No news is bad news?

By Avatarofbliss, in Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game

No news at all from any games workshop properties from fantasy flight. Things are not looking good. No news on next conquest cycle, no forbidden stars, no new games, and no news on their smash hit warhammer quest adventure cardgame. This is troubling.

There was no news during the presentation, but someone did ask about Conquest during the Q&A, and surprisingly the answer was "new packs coming, no further comment."

That at least send a glimmer of hope.

Hey, that's good :)

Unless they were referring to the packs already announced?

Yes folks on cardgamedb are under the impression they meant the end of current cycle, all announced yet not here yet, thus new packs coming.

So we dont really know.

Well, techinically there are three packs left. :P

Hmmm.... well about the GW license... Talisman is also a GW property, and FF has been pumping out expansions for that... So there is HOPE that they still have the GW license for some things...

Except for the fact that Talisman as it is released currently is pretty much finished up for expansions. All the main sections have been released and the small box stuff is mostly their own in house brews.

Plus, the rulebook for the latest expansion has a final "thank you" that really makes "latest" sound like "last"

It would be sad to see quest go, on the other hand we'll have arjham horror LCG now.

Talisman, doesn't actually use any GW art/lore so maybe FFG wns the rules now?

While it will be a huge bummer if this and other GW FFG games ends it will create alot of interesting opportunities and questions.

Is GW pulling just the Warhammer/40k licenses and will continue to have FFG produce those not in their main IP(Fury of Dracula, Talisman)?

With the Specialist Games studio at GW and their recent focus on games using minis compatible with their main systems is GW bringing it in house to focus on making more board games and getting into card games? Or is there a new third party partner for them?

While Arkham and Five Rings LCGs have been announced, if GW properties are not only no longer supported but production ceased that is going a pretty big hole in their library; especially on the card side of things. What could FFG have in mind to plug that gap?

So this could lead to disappointment in the short term, but some very interesting days could be upon us very soon.

Plus the 3rd edition of Runebound that nicely fills up the gap Talisman left.

Interesting read!! Thanks!

The Troll Slayer and Witch Hunter aren't available in the store anymore....Any word on why?

Nagash1059 that's a good question. I was finally able to buy both from my local game store. They had about 10 or so of each pack.

Hm. Having a print-on-demand disappear is concerning. Almost like they're not allowed to sell them any more...

When such contracts end they are often allowed to continue to sell quantities on hand, which would be consistent with having the main box still available for purchase but not the POD packs.

Not looking good.
