It works either way to me. You can do what you want. It makes just as much sense for Estelia to not interpret this interaction properly as well since it's still pretty far out of her usual experiences.
At least to me.
But again do as you want, it's your character and not everyone has posted.

Servant and Lynata, how do you feel about Balthazar being relatively open with Lemont? I want to see how he responds to my questions and determine where his loyalties lie -- specifically, if loyalty to the Concilium trumps his devotion to the Emperor. If he seems trustworthy I could even let him know that we work for the Inquisition and make use of his large surveillance network.
As far as I'm concerned, Balthazar is your character. If Ariel has any objections, she'd voice them afterwards.

I'm cool with whatever, and I think Estelia figures that Father Thorne knows what he's doing.
As for discussing things OOC, I think it'd be nice to avoid that in situations like this where our characters couldn't talk without being overheard, and the decision could have major consequences in order to maintain some of the role-play. When there isn't anything particularly important going on I don't see any reason not to discuss things OOC if it will keep things moving better. But I don't have any strong feelings one way or the other.

I guess our cover just wasn't deep enough. It's one thing to come up with a cool alias, but another to have investigations throw up the appropriately doctored files. Something to learn from in the future?
To be fair your covers are only name deep, there's no paperwork backing it up.
The only stuff "sealed" is stuff concerning Sister Inellia which directly concerns your mission.
But yes the security officer is upset at things that he's not allowed to know when it directly affects his ability to do his job fully. Who would've thought it.
