Can the Gypsy take the spells cast by the Genie from the discard pile? (FYI - the Genie is owned by another player)

Gypsy: Whenever another character places a Spell on the discard pile, you may take it and add it to your own Spells, if your Craft allows.

Genie Follower: The Genie will cast the Spells whenever you wish (treat the Spells as though you had cast them).

So yes if another character (other than the Gypsy) casts a Spell held by the Genie follower the Gypsy character can take that said spell when the Spell is places on the discard pile, if the Gypsies Craft allows.

For the same reason Gypsy cannot take a Spell. In fact, YOU DON'T discard the spell.

This is not your spell, so you don't discard the spell. The spell is just discarded (by the Genie).

Your character places it on the discard pile (because your character is treated as though they cast the spell).

It basically just means the Gypsy cannot take her spells she places on the discard pile. Because imagine that!
