Give me your fastest Ghost builds!!

By taulover55, in X-Wing Squad Lists

With a Kessel Run event coming up i have knocked up a Ghost Build,

Large ships only, no Ghost Title (or hounds Tooth) so no piggybacking the shuttle, K turning and it Shooting out the back!!!

also all ships will be on the table at the same time and heading to the end point as fast as possible.

I've got a Kanan list in mind which involves a liberal dosing of Ion stuff (toprs, turret and Sabine with bomb) to slow everyone else down plus Tactitician to induce stress (no Boost or Barrel roll)

limit it 65 points

Go internet!!!

Can you run interference ala boost to get in front of other ships + block other ships with chopper?

Lothal with hera and Chopper crew with engine upgrade. Boost til you die.

I think you're smart to go with Ion. Those Torps out the back will be brutal. I would try something like this:

VCX-100: · Kanan Jarrus (38)

Ion Torpedoes (5)

Extra Munitions (2)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Electronic Baffle (1)

· Experimental Interface (3)

· "Leebo" (2)

· R2-D2 (4)

My biggest decision point is the last crew slot. I thought R2-D2 for recovery, but I also thought about Lando, RecSpec, and Chewie. Baffles protects you from the Ion that others will likely be using as well, though you should just use it to avoid that second Ion token. This build is going to take some damage, so the hope would be to get far enough ahead that they can't fire anymore. I think R2 gives you the best shot at surviving long enough to do that, though Chewie is my second thought just because he's a guaranteed recovery with no drawback.

With the stuff I have I've come up with this.

VCX-100: · Kanan Jarrus (38)

Extra Munitions (2)

Ion Torpedoes (5)

Ion Cannon Turret (5)

Fire Control System (2)

Engine Upgrade (4)

· Sabine Wren (2)

Recon Specialist (3)

Ion Bombs (2)

I'm happy to drop Sabine as ion torps out the ass is fun and was considering leebo.

Well, if you have engine upgrade, then Leebo doesn't help you (you can't boost twice in a turn). If you have Connor Nets, I would use those over the Ion Bombs, just because they stay until they are hit. They do take an action though, so I could understand either way. If you have Experimental Interface, I would strongly urge you to consider the Leebo/EI combo. It may only be used once, but the double action could prove invaluable, especially for dropping a bomb as well.

Not sure why I said Leebo, actually meant Nien Numb to keep me going flat out to clear any stress that's there

Warning to note - if this scenario is a "race", people will most likely have the sense to take ion weapons. Hence, Leebo's normally acceptable activation cost of a single ion token becomes a much bigger deal, and an 'actual' engine upgrade becomes much more valuable.

Sounds like a plan. Ion Torps to zap anyone ahead of or behind you is a good call, and I'd definitely take a baffle for the same reason. I can imagine an Outrider with a turreted Ion Cannon might be a tempting thing for people for a similar reason - plus the ability to potentially boost then barrel roll (gaining a bit of speed!)

Definitely recommend Nien Numb. making a full-speed straight green is key to dealing with stress, and he's cheaper than kanan (plus, you want Kanan to pilot!)

This but dump the Ion Turret down to Autoblaster and bump the ion bombs up to Conner Nets.

I would take Enhanced Scopes over FCS if this really is a pure race. Moving and acting first means you won't be blocked or lose actions. The Aggressor and Lambda are the only other large ships with System slots and they are not fast enough to outrun the Ghost.

Just prepare for when the illicit SLAM comes out and 4-speed scum ships with SLAM, PTL, and boost just own the game.

judging by "Burst", it's going to be a one-shot thing

if it's a one-shot, why bother adding SLAM to the action bar?

because you can't SLAM as a free action

if it gets too dumb, though, they could always just ban it in this format

Electronic Baffles is something else to consider for the systems slot. Helps with the dial, and is an effective counter to ion-based strategies (which sound like a thing in this format). And you've got the health to use it.

There will be obstacles and I believe there will be other ships (huge imp ships) blocking your path.

Cheers for the ideas, I'm gonna have a think and see what I can come up with
