Replacement

By dragosteachiro, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

Hi there,

I purchased the fantasy roleplay starter kit, and unfortunately shortly thereafter I was in a car accident.

Skipping vehicular details, I was only able to get the books salvaged from the car - the rest (including the box) was destroyed. I would like to know what I am missing, so I can try to find replacement dice/cards/unicorns/whatever else came with the box.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

The big thing that you're missing is the dice. The big problem is that an Extra Dice Pack only comes with 1 Challenge Dice, so I'd say you need at least 4. You could probably get away with 2 provided you're prepared to re-roll them.

A lot of what was in the Core Box can only be found in the Core Box. If you get the Player's Guide then you'll be able to find duplicates for them, but you lost stand tokens, stance bases, and a bunch more. You don't NEED any of those, but the idea behind them is important for how the game works.

I think the cheapest way to replace the content in the core set is to buy a new core set. You could get the Game Master's Vault + Player's Vault + several dice packs and end up with almost the same content. A quick look at the FFG products page for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay:

Core set $100

Game Master's Vault $30

Player's Vault $40

Dice Pack $12

So for the same price as a core set you'd get the two vaults and 2-3 dice packs. There's way more dice in the core set. I also do believe that the Game Master's Vault and the Player's Vault contain less of the other stuff than the core box as well, such as creatures/enemy standups and the books. The standups are part of the Creature Vault which costs another $40, but contains more stuff than the core box (such as creature cards and nemisis sheets).

So sadly, the best way to replace everything is to buy another core set. Having two sets of books is useful when playing also.

Buying the creature vault is totally worth though, also, if you were thinking of it...
