If an effect spawns a gate with an epic monster, do you still spawn a normal monster?

And you do it. Then an effect can make a lot of different things with that gate, one which is spawning an Epic Monster, and all of which are additional effects.
Your question might as well be "If an effect spawns a gate and moves you to that gate, do you still spawn a normal monster?" - rulewise it's the same situation.
