How would you stat out a B.A.R(a browning automatic rifle) for warhammer 40k only war

Dark Heresy "The Inquisitor's Handbook" has introduced Armageddon Pattern Autogun - very similar to BAR. Basic, Range 100, RoF S/2/6, Dmg 1d10+4I, Pen 0, Clip 15, Rld Full, Wt 8.5, Reliable. Penetration may be worth increasing, but all other stats is ok, IMHO.

Mmmmmmm thanks

And comparable weight. I doubt "Reliable" part, however.

Alternatively, start with a rifle. If you take Steadholder's stats, reduce range, add Semi- and Full- auto (with modest rate of fire - it had selectable rate of fire, but less controllable than typical weapons using intermediate cartridges), and you'll arrive at close numbers.

I agree that rifles should have some Penetration to set them above the smaller loads.

But if it's not high-caliber, why should it have greater damage too? 1d10+4I Pen 4 is a high-powered rifle (Grox-Gun) and 1d10+4I Pen 3 is HMG or a big sniper rifle, we may assume 7.62 should not be quite this messy.

I'd take Stub Rifle from BC as a good base (Dam 1d10+3 I Pen 1), or even "Pax Factorem" (Dam 1d10+3 I Pen 2). Range 100m (or maybe 110, so that it's above autogun), RoF S/2/6, Rld Full, and what we know of BAR - ammo 20, Wt 9 kg with bipod. No special properties. Usually comes with a bipod.

Optionally, may fire at S/3/10, but at a penalty unless braced (on bipod) like Heavy weapons.

In my understanding, Armageddon-pattern is a weapon using something like .50 Beowulf / .499 LWR / 12.7х55 . I.e. it won't have range penetration of HMG (using equal bullets), but at short range it's about as good at making big holes without being ludicrously huge and massive.
