Anyone planning on using minis with the game?

I'm only using minis in place of the standees. As the existing system is abstract, there is no need for terrain or maps. The minis are only used to show relative positions and ranges. I will describe the setting. If a picture is necessary, I will sketch a rough layout on a small piece of paper, but I will not be using terrain or maps drawn to scale of the minis as I don't want to have to define ranges in scale. Since there is already so much other stuff on the table for this game, the beauty of the abstract system is that two minis with 3 counters between them are at long range, but don't take up more than a few inches of play area. With a scale map, you have to start positioning figs halfway across the table to represent long range and that really isn't necessary in this system.

I do the same; though I use the standees for NPCs and "boss" type monsters (or vice versa depending on whether I have enough models). I usually have a map or sketch of the area for flavor, but I don't prescribe distances.

Lastly, instead of littering the table with multiple range tokens, I use colored glass beads (I have tons of things like glass beads, colored cubes, chits, etc. from years of proto-typing board games). I use green = close, yellow = medium, red = long, blue = extreme.

Hi all,

I plan on using mini's too. I have alot of warhammer mini's (many already painted), I think these will add a really nice touch to the game.

Ive also seen several sellers on ebay that sell painted warhammer mini's at fairly reasonable cost ($10-25 ea).

I am going to use standees until I have Minis to replace them.

I have also found a good source of some fantasy minis is Descent (they are useful for Pathfinder and 4th edition D&D)

Personally while standees are good, nothing beats seeing a group of lovingly hand painted minis being used in a game :)

I own pretty much every table top army there is (yes I'm that big of a fan). I have an extensive fully painted miniatures library that I plan to break out of retirement for this.

My D&D game heavily uses my miniatures, there's no way I'd pass up a chance to use my warhammer figs for a warhammer RPG!

I really like the standups, especially with the stance ring that goes around the base, but I have tons of minis, so will be using those. I'll probably cut the stance rings to fit the round and hex bases or just put the minis on top.

P.S. Awesome Norscan Doc

As the GM I will defintiely use minis for the monsters. Between D4, WFB, Warlord and many other games I have pretty much everything I'll need or can get it easily. For PCs I think we'll need to get a feel for PC survivability first. I'm sure that I have just about anything that could come up taken care of, and proabbly already painted, but I'd hate for my players to paint up figs if they end up getting killed off quickly.
