Harker's SCUM Re-Paints & Conversions

By Barry Harker, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

This thread just keeps getting better and better. :D

I'm already loving it <3

I'm enjoying watching this latest build, but I have to say it's looking suspiciously close to the SW universe version of a Firefly class transport. Gonna move a herd of banthas or tauntauns in that?

Hello IronOx.

Glad you like the Model, its a lot of fun taking something and cutting it up.....then turning into something else !

You mention the Starwars Class Firefly.

I didnt think that my "Space Camel" Hump Back YZ looked anything like the Firespray class. Maybe the Firespray out of

Serenity possibly " Looked at the pictures of the ship after you mentioned it "

my model has a raised cockpit similar to the Firefly and I have put the engines outboard.

but that's only because I thought the Engines on the YZ-666 looked pathetic !

and wanted more space in the vessel for a hanger and storage.

as for the starwars class firespray........do youmean this,

The Unofficial version of a YZ-775 FIRESPRAY CLASS.....

9ZeA3n.png

And Im currently scratching one together, or something similar from a Galoob Action Fleet Republic Cruiser model toy.

now I dont mind showing this on here because its an OFFICIAL Star Wars product. unlike some of the 3D printed stuff

B65jP1.jpg

And I have two other models to turn into something else when the mood and time arises.

For my Firespray Variant I will use it as a YT 2400 on the gaming table.

mBeWoV.jpg

I will post the build to these in my Rebel forum section..... https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/222069-harkers-rebels-re-paints-conversions/

I haven't customized many ships for my Rebel fleet.

So this will make a nice change.

Back on with finishing my "Space Camel" now......got some Bantha's to Transport :P

All the best,

Barry.

Wow, your skills are good. I can tell you can look at pictures and your brain starts figuring out the shapes and pieces you need to make the ship you want. I'm trying to work out the dimensions for a YU-410 myself. It's Gozanti in length so I'm not sure if I should play it as a large or huge ship.

Yes, I was referring to the Serenity from the show Firefly. Your "space camel" isn't the same by any means, but it evoked the look to me. That's what I meant by "SW universe version". Firefly was a true space western and there was an episode where the crew carried a herd of cattle from one planet to another. That's why I made the Bantha herd comment. Keep up the good work and inspiration.

Hi Barry - sure I remember reading somewhere that one of those two versions of the cruiser is quite valuable...maybe the one with fewer panel lines...although, if they're not boxed, I guess it's too late, ;)

Cheers

Thank you.

You are right about that Look.

it does have a bit of resemblance to Serenity.....I could never get into that show. not sure why.

Seeing the Photos of the Serenity ship, I like it from the front and lower 3/4 view....but that bulbous rear, tail section looks, wrong.

like a Bug abdomen. unless that was the idea being called firefly.

Good luck with your YU-410, Ill have to look up what that is, hope your going to post photos.

All the best IronOx

Hmmm I didn't know that any of these models were of some value.

be worth checking up on.

as it stands, I have the box's for both with the wire ties still intact, easy to put any of them back in the box.

I was planning on keeping one by as a reminder and a keepsake.

always nice to have an original. :D

All the best,

Barry.

Moving on with my "SPACE CAMEL"

I have fitted some Plastic Decorative crystals inside the Engine nacelle.

so when the light hits the crystal, it will reflect the light and give it something similar to an engine trust glow,

I have done this on a few of my models, and find it works well.........

Here are some links to the type of Crystals I use inside my Engine thrusters on the Models......Should anyone else want to

Have a go :D

This is the Model so far with a Highlighting of the main bodywork and bringing it back to its main Colour.

I have still yet to add finer detail and the finer grime, rust streaks blaster marks and paint chips to the model.

should have it all finished by Friday ready for its first Fight on the gaming table on Saturday :D

One of my all time favorite star wars vessels, seriously thinking about scratch building one of these.

Love those engine nacelles - can you recall where they're from ?

Cheers

Ian

Hi Ian.

Yes they are from the Arc 170.

In fact two scales.

The front Nacelle section up to the end of the wing is from the small scale fast clip model.

And the rear thrust nozzle is from the larger 1:72 scale model.

I have bought many Star wars models over the years.....just to use them for there parts !

Needless to say I have many "parts box's" full

Of component's from various models.

I have one full box with just engine parts.

Another with fuselage sections, and separate wing box.....and so on.

Battle ship and tank kits are also fantastic for kit bashing.

All the best.

Barry.

Barry, you rock. I check this thread daily for updates.

Thanks Rinzler.

try opening a photo Bucket account, then load your photos onto the sight, very easy.

then slide the cursor over the photo you want to up load,

and on the top left corner in each photo, an option list will show up.

click on "share"

then I white box appears with four options on the right side.

select "images" at the bottom left.

that will copy the html information.

then you paste on your Xwing page......as many times as you want :D

I would love to see you do the Sloth!

That thing is so cool! I personaly wouldn't have given it a turret on top, rather a big gun (maybe some repurposed artillery piece) that would coincide with the cannon slot the ship has in the game. Looks fantastic either way, though!

I would love to see you do the Sloth!

I am planning on it soon.

Need to finish my Firespray and YZ-Firefly first.

Then I will look at getting on with building the Sloth as a full scratch build.

Thanks Deathrain.

I wanted the turret there as.....well if you could you would.

Perfect place for 360' firing arc.

Of course in the game.

It only fires to the rear with a 180' firing arc.

And very successful it was to.

Survived its first Game and won today's match.

The model was well worth the effort.

It looked good, survived an onslaught and lived to fight another day.

All the best.

Barry

Absolutely amazing. Looks truly like it would come straight out if a Star Wars movie.

Uhh I think you got the aux arc wronge the YV666 auc arc is forward it cant fire back at all
