New to the forums but not the game!

Hail/Salute

This is just a quick and friendly hello to all fellow Arkham Horror players. I've been playing this game for a few years now and have suffered greatly for it. I've never played a game that loves to torment, kick, slap, and generally **** its players quite like this game. As a masochist, this is fantastic.

Curious, have any of you legitimately beaten Cthulhu with his heralds and if so what characters did you use to confront him? Furthermore, what are your favorite Elder Gods to fight and why?

Mine is Nyralathotep because I enjoy the terrible masks he puts into the monster cup. I find the mask creatures add an interesting spice to the game along with the mash of expansions.

That’s it for now! Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn to you all.

Hello and welcome! Yes, it is a great game for people who both enjoy the hard-to-find fully co-op game, and who want to lose.

The final scenario for the 2nd Arkham league required players to overcome the Cthulhu/Dagon/Hydra combo.

I've beaten that combo by closing gates, and cworm, ArkhamRel, dj, and Lucas Hansen have by seals. According to the stats site I maintain, nobody has been able to defeat them by final combat. Unless I overlooked that info somewhere.

A couple of my favorites to face are Hastur and Shudde M'ell, because they change the game pace. Variable final combat modifiers are cool, and so are additional loss conditions.

Hello, New Meat :') Nyarlethotep is my favorite too. At least in theory (I love masks). Unfortunately he's too easy to beat in practice. Check out this fix though ;'D (I didn't make this one— although I have a bunch of stuff in the Ancient Ones and Custom Heralds threads in the Fan Creation section of the website— which I strongly suggest you visit).

Other than Nyarlethotep modified, my favorite might be Ghatanothoa. Arkham Roulette!

Here's a direct link to my photobucket account (in case you don't want to go rummaging through the threads— of course, if you do, you'll probably find some other stuff you'll like— like the Werewolf Herald for instance :') another must not miss).

:'D I think I'm going to make my last herald for a long time in the next day or two (I've been thinking about it for several months). It'll basically be something to stitch any two Ancient Ones together :') Janus will make for great fun I think.

I suppose since you've been at the Carnival for some time, my usual greeting seems a tad moot.

Eh, what the hell. Welcome to the Carnival, Toast 514! gran_risa.gif demonio.gif aplauso.gif

I have never beaten Cthulhu with either of his Heralds, let alone with both, but I've only tried a handful of times. Most of those ended because Innsmouth and its Track danced on my pulpy skull.

I assume you mean "play with", and not just "during a Final Battle".

Without a doubt, Ghatanothoa is my top fave. That heart clench/stomach drop as you reach for the Visage Pool...NOTHING beats that terror.

Along the same lines, Quachil Uttaus is a delight as well, but he grants a more personal terror for just the First Player.

Glaaki is a horrible bastard who shreds my inventories, but I have to admire that spiky lump's track record of devastation.

Tsathoggua forces players into a plethora of fascinating Encounters, often in places no one ever bothers to go, desperately seeking those things they took for granted in games where trophies mattered.

I, too, love Nyarlathotep's Masks, moreso now that there are so many of them, of all colors and Gate symbols, and I agree with Avi that you MUST try Nyarl with that Herald.

Finally, Yog-Sothoth. After 24 Ancient Ones, watching the cries against Cthulhu and Shub fade to wails against Atlach Nacha and Zhar, you have to respect that Yog is STILL holding his own with the worst of them.

Please! I anticipate your "carnival" comment every time. I was disappointed when you didn't come on and say it fast enough. I was thinking of saying it because you've ingrained it in my brain but I hesitated: "That's jgt's thing!"
