The 2nd Edition of the Game of Thrones Living Card Game continues to grow in popularity, and we’re celebrating with a special introductory tournament known as The Kingslayer! Full details can be found here , but here’s the basics:

Kingslayer Deckbuilding Rules

To build a deck for this tournament, a player selects the following from a single copy of the Core Set:

A plot deck of seven plot cards. A second copy of a single plot card may be chosen if more than one copy of that plot card exists in the Core Set .

All of the cards from any two factions. A player’s faction choices are indicated by using the faction card from both of the chosen factions. Agenda cards, such as the Banner agendas, are not used for this event. Each of the twenty Core Set cards , both loyal and non-loyal, from both of the chosen factions must be included in the player’s deck.

A minimum of ten neutral cards. For neutral cards that appear more than three times in the Core Set , no more than three copies of the card may be included in a deck.

Plot choices, faction choices, and/or neutral card choices may be adjusted between each round of the event, as long as players are ready to begin play at the start of the next round. A player who is happy with his or her deck is not required to adjust his or her deck between rounds.

We will be doing swiss rounds based on the total number of players, and no playoff. Each round will be timed at 60 minutes. We will be awarding points according to this breakdown:

Players earn tournament points at the
end of each game as follows:
Match Win = 5 points
Modified Match Win = 4 points
Draw = 2 points
Modified Match Loss = 1
Match Loss = 0 points
If a player meets his deck’s victory condition before
the time limit has been reached, that player earns a
match win and his opponent receives a match loss. If
the time limit has been reached, the player closest to
his victory total (in power) earns a modified match
win and his opponent receives a modified match loss.
If both players are equally close to their victory total,
ends in a draw for both players. These points are used
to determine the winner of the tournament.
The entry fee for this event will be $5, which will go towards the prize pool. The prize pool will consist of:
1st place overall-choice of FFG Game of Thrones playmat from those in stock
In addition, top ranking players will also receive a set of wooden banner tokens from Team Covenant! We will include one set for every 4 players who enter. We will have one set of each house available. If we have less than 8 players, first place gets choice of tokens or playmat, and second will get the other prize. In the case of 8 or more, first gets choice of tokens in addition to the playmat, with additional token sets chosen by second and so on down the line until all have been claimed.
