Maester Luwin, Bran, and First Snow

By Rick IsLitFam, in Rules Questions

Hello everyone,

Here's an interesting situation for you. If Maester Luwin and Bran are in play, and the opponent plays the First Snow plot, if you put Maester Luwin back into your hand first, is Bran still immune to the plot effect?

My logic is, since Bran is still immune--under Maester Luwin--the only person needed to satisfy the plot would be Maester Luwin. However, once Luwin is back in your hand, does the plot effect still include Bran?

There is no "if you put Maester Luwin back into your hand first." All characters are returned to your hand simultaneously. So there is no point where Luwin is in your hand, Bran is not, and the plot is still in the process of resolving.

Said another way, at the point the Luwin is back in your hand, the plot has fully resolve; you don't get to "rewind" and grab characters that were immune when the plot was resolving, but aren't now that the plot has fully resolved.

This is the same reason Wildfire Assault doesn't kill Bran, even if it kills Luwin, and even if Bran is not one of the 3 you chose to keep in play (which he can't be, anyway, because you cannot "choose" immune characters for abilities they are immune to.
