Gm screen

By stanmons, in WFRP Gamemasters

Hi,

It's been 15+ years since my last Warhammer session so please update me: what do you recommend for GM screen for WHFRP 3rd ed?

If there's no official available, any rumors of such coming up? Or any ideas where to get a neutral but fantasy-oriented GM screen? Or anyone yet made a custom one for all of us to print and enjoy?

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that FFG will produce a GM screen.

I mean, they've done so for every other RPG that they have in their repetoire.

For the time being, several forum members here have created useful tools, like a Cheat Sheet and a quick reference tool for spells.

I'll try to post the links ASAP.

EDIT: Check out Nezzir's signature. He has some useful tools.

Who made the Quick reference card again?

If FFG did a screen, that'd be cool.

I know alot of GMs/DMs don't use screens these days (or maybe I just remember more screens previously. None of my gaming friends use 'em), but I love screens.

Here's the one I use. You can slip anything into it, so it's multi-purpose!

I uploaded my own, refined after a few sessions here: http://www.mediafire.com/?ydydzmtyztm - I am trying this third party instead of using my personal hosting site for now.

I'll probably add it to our adventure site/wiki in the coming week or so.

These are great. Any chance of getting them reformatted for Landscape screens?

Hedgewizard,

Would you consider making these available for download at the Hammerzeit ( http://74.53.20.230/hammerzeit/ ) fan site? Dark Reign on this board has set the site up and I think your sheets would be a good addition to the site.

John

I am glad some folks are finding them useful. I have found them to be invaluable in a first few sessions.

I need to make a couple of changes this evening (spelling, format, add a couple last items) and then I'll put together another pdf packet and host it somewhere.

John, feel free to add these to the fan site (I dig the site so far - good work!) - though you may want to wait until I update it this evening. I'll re-post here once I do.

Here's the newest pdf (with minor updates). Let me know if I've missed something.

I will try to create a character creation one later this weekend, as well as create a landscape version if time permits.

thanks HedgeWizard

Very nice hedge. I have a portrait quad fold screen with pockets in it. I've had it for a long time. I wanted to link it, but I can't find it anymore. I print out stuff like this and put it in that screen.

Really good stuff here. Looks great.

Just 1 question: On p2, did you mean to put two Close distance ranks? I presume the first one should be Engaged but I could be wrong.

I did actually mean "close to close" costs 1; since it was explicitly called out in the rules, and engagement assumes you're already in close range and costs a manoeuvre already, I just wanted to highlight for my players the cost in moving range bands.

I guess it could say Engaged too since it's more likely you'll move from close to engaged or vice-versa, but I suppose there might be times when you'll move within close range for tactical reasons.

I put a version 1.3 that incorporates the errata and FAQ info (e.g. you regain power if you're below equilibrium is charted, etc.)

I've uploaded it to the hammerzeit fan site which is live, and it's on boardgamegeek waiting review (should be up by end of the day).

A couple of things, if you don't mind. On Healing and Recovery, if I'm reading the book right a First Aid check made to assist someone making a Resilience check adds 1 Fortune per success, plus 1 per 2 boons. you just have it add 1 Fortune + 1 per 2 boons.

Under Long Term Care, the last bullet should be recover as above (normal Resilience check), plus either 1 W per success or convert a crit of severity <= # of successes.

On the Combat page, you should note that maneuvers can only be executed before or after an action, but not during. Also if you could fix the typo under Cunning to not say Force misfortuney. I know it is minor, but it drives me crazy.

Again, a landscape version would be great if you get a chance to reformat it since I use a 3 panel customizable GM screen like the one found here www.studio2publishing.com/shop/product_info.php

Good catches; I will update the sheet over the weekend. I have messed with moving it to landscape mode, but the layout of the combat and more is a little off. I can certainly do it, but it won't likely be done for another week (just b/c I have very little time to focus on that as opposes to work, holidays, and writing my adventures!)

I've updated the sheets once again: I've edited the healing sections per request. I also noticed something we hadn't caught: First Aid & Medicine checks don't add their respective bonus fortune dice per double boon result, rather if you can spend 2 boons to gain 1 bonus fortune/expertise (i.e. you can't do that multiple times).

I've also created a landscape format... not sure how nice it looks or flows, and it took a bit of work breaking up the longer lists. But it's there.

I've uploaded them to BGG/GeekDo here (under the user DeadEyeDick). They might not be approved yet, so give it a day.

Is the 1.3 version the latest?

John

No - 1.4 is, but they have yet to be approved by the BGG admins... there is both a portrait and a landscape version uploaded and waiting approval. I'll probably post here again once I get word they are approved.

The 1.3 version already has 70 uploads... whoa.

hedge - Keep us posted when it goes up. I found your stuff to be very very helpful so far.

How do I get the nifty dice symbol fonts? would be great for when I'm writting a adventure :P thanks in advance.

@ Hedgewizard - The update still isn't appearing at BGG. Any reason why these haven't been uploaded to Hammerzeit? That's where I got the previous versions.

Doh! Forgot about that location! I've uploaded them both there (portrait and landscape modes). The layout on Landscape mode required some tweaking, and I ended up with a lot of extra space so I played with the fortune/misfortune modifiers for combat.

Froo worked up some great fonts; available in this thread.
