Custom Heralds

that is the point it should not happen more than few times per game... LiTaS is like Jailed, so not too often would be nice...

Or simply: "when the terror increases, the first player roll a die and is LiTaS on a failure"

or "When the terror increases, the first player must pass a Luck(-T) check or is lost in space and time (where T is the Terror level)."

I'd probably go with the second one because it takes the least space to say. Although I liked the idea of the third, it's considerably longer.

alright. Sold ! I updated the file. any further comments welcome.

I would probably put insane/unconscious -> LITAS in Arkham, and/or I would make a separate effect for investigators insane/unconscious in Another World. But you could just do the former (add in another word or two, I can't believe I'm advocating that).

Okay. This is semi-incoherent, but hopefully you understand. Nap time...

Hi Amikezor!

sorry, I was on vacation and it took me quite a lot of time recovering all unread posts. I like you're Herald! Love the theme too. And I don't care much if it doesn't boost the difficulty too much, sometimes it's fun to play even non-crippling Heralds. But.. if you want something nasty.. what about adding the line "every time a Y'thian enters play, the first player rolls a die. On a failure, raise the Terror level by one"? This can mess up the situation a lot!

Thank you for the feedback. It would imply to potentially, all investigators are LiTaS... very nasty indeed. I'll play-test it this week as it is. gui%C3%B1o.gif

@ Amikezor: Let us know!

@ Avi: I'll give your rift Herald a try this week. I'll go for the surge in case you play Azathoth (which seemed to me the final version of it, right?)

Well, it is intended as an Azathoth herald, but for a lesser Kingsport boosting experience, yes, it can be used with anyone. I mean this in the nicest way, but I hope you die ;'D

what is this herald you are writing about guys ? I am intrigued...

I love you too, darling ::smack::

But anyway, I played the ninth Scenario of the French League, which was dramatically easy. So, I didn't die ::laughter:: but anyway, since it wasn't by your hand, it's not interesting ::laughter::

I play tested the Great Race herald this weak. It added enough flavour that I'd like to keep it as it (at least for now). Luckily, we had Hank in play that purge them off the board :-)

Lovely news for my ears :-) A new good Herald is something always welcomed. Lurker gates or normal ones? And what combo of expansions have you played with?

it was a scenario from a canadian guy (nazghul) with glaaki, using this herald, a thematic cup with living-dead and cultists (draw from thematic cup if the mythos shows a moon symbol) and a new institution that gives corruptions and cult encounters that I will post very soon... hopefully :-)

Wow :-) sounds promising

Ok, finally I had the time for fixing my Gate to the Void Herald. I tried to incorporated all suggestions, basically avoiding Dark Young Cultists and Dark Young entering the Hospital and the Asylum, and adopting Avi's suggested tactics of having a generic hexagon monster to be avoided when starting movement in certain locations instead of having to face another Dark Young. Should still be tough, but a little more playable (it's still a little verbose, I think, but I preferred keeping a more exaustive version of every ability). As usual, thanks to all of you who helped me in completing even this Herald here.

Here we go:

Nice. i like very much the sky, aerial locations and flying gates. though I found the card too crowded in general (is everything mandatory ?).

I am not such a big fan of fast flying monsters and especially am surprised by the dark young which are spawns of the terra mater not really the flying type :-).

Hi Amikezor,

thank you for the feedback. Yeah, the card is quite crowded. Avi tried to condense the wording a little, but I don't know... I tried to follow his suggestions but in some way I thought that the Herald was losing a little the flavour. As for the Dark Young... I think fast flyers give quite a lot of pressure to the game (you have to kill that thing now !) but I think it should work fine even with "normal" flyers. If others prefer "normal" instead of "fast" flyers, I'll gladly change it, no probs :-)

Oh no ;.( Do I need to edit the card again? Maybe on Tuesday? My head feels like it's going to fall off right now...

::laughter:: The Herald for me is ok. I can send Amikezor a condensed version of it by e-mail, in case he wants (I still have all your notes, don't worry)

I was thinking about your herald... gran_risa.gif

Did you consider removing "endlessly breeding" ? I am not sure that you need to mix shub-niggurath (and monsters) into that sky mechanics that is exciting and original by itself. So you could even get rid of the abyss and just place the first gate to the sky. Plus, in the end, that would fix the density issue. gui%C3%B1o.gif just thinking out loud...

best

Sign of the changing of times... once a man would have said to a woman "I was thinking of you", now it's "I was thinking about your herald"

(sorry, too fun not to joke a little ::laughter: :)

Anyway, jokes aside... this is an interesting point. This Herald is a strange mixture of things. I had a certain scheme in my mind, born I don't remember when after the Lurker was out and we had finally moving gates. Moving gates move according to black border monster movement rules, but we have different types of movement that can be used:

- aquatic movement - aquatic gates - R'lyeh awakens Herald / Scenario

- flyers - flying gates - The Gate to the Void Herald / Scenario

- green border monsters - special movement of gates - The Trembling Earth Herald / Scenario (still to be posted; name is not the final one, I've just borrowed it from Avi's League. Anyway, you have to play with the Lurker gate markers and all gates will be moving and have some special rules. I hope it will be fun)

but I also wanted something related to Shub Niggurath and I wanted to have flying Dark Youngs (they're my fave monster I don't know why). Having flying Dark Youngs was a perfect match for this kind of Herald here.

But actually you're right, it's not "pure" as others, it's a mixture of two different ideas that maybe could have been developed into two different Heralds

What do you think of this: remixing the Herald. First gate random, no rules about Dark Young, as you suggested, PLUS "If Shub Niggurath is the AO, then the gate in the Sky must be a gate to the Abyss AND Dark Youngs gain etc"? In this way you can play it in both ways

Sounds good to me, but I'd probably only play it with Shub in that case ;'D
