Got you. I'll fix that.
Custom Heralds
The guardian aspect looks good to me. I don't see any broken rules or exploits.
Hi everybody,
I've updated & re-uploaded my Aforgomon. Here is the final version (available as soon as Photobucket updates):
I tried to incorporate the suggestion you gave me some time ago, and I made it a little nastier, according to Avi's suggestions
@Amikezor: I really like the proto-final result. Apart from the one highlighted by Avi, I don't see loopholes / errors / horrors / whatelse. What about using this picture here as the final image? Only a little request... could you kindly remove the underlining of "optional"? For aesthetical reasons, nothing more!
Great. Guarderald fixed the blackhole found by Avi.
@ avec: thank you
@ Julia: I keep this picture, since I am trying to avoid "official" picture of the myth to change our view from it. :-) Though, I removed the underline. On another note, I'll translate very soon the final version of several heralds for the lurker (including yours) that has just been released in french.

That's a great news :-) if you need the Eon, let me know!
Now that I think about it, you might want to avoid gender specific language. You could say, "When an investigator closes a gate on a location with a seal, the gate may not be taken as a trophy unless the investigator can claim monsters with the endless ability as trophies." That way you don't have any wiseacres saying that Mandy can claim the trophy.
I also changed the wording for "endless" slightly to match the wording on the John Legrasse card.
alright good point. Will change it asap.
best
Silver Gate updated.
All right...edits on the Power / Fury of Barganon Heralds complete. This removes the effect that made LiTaS more likely and concerned a lot of people (and ended up being about as irritating as they'd expected, yeah... ).
As a reminder, Power is the easier mode, Fury is the harder mode, and both were largely intended to be used in conjunction with Barganon (or hard mode Barganon Rex) to create a weird and random game experience.
Eon files and image files available from the links in my signature, as always.
Mrr. Looked at it again, and started rethinking my edits. The intent of the Barganon herald (at least "Power of") is less to make the game harder and more to make it stranger (I frankly only call it a herald because there wasn't any other good term available. O_O). So I think I'm going to go back to the gate switch (on a mythos phase, if a gate's dimensional symbol shows up on black, that gate is switched with a new gate), but with the following modifications:
"Power of": When a gate is switched, an investigator in that other world switches to the new other world, in the same position he was in before. (This prevents him from risking LiTaS and doesn't slow down other world travel).
"Fury of": When a gate is switched, an investigator in that other world switches to the first space of the new other world. (This still prevents LiTaS, but forces an investigator to spend more time in the other worlds.)
These would give the strangeness of the gate changes, add the strangeness of world changes, give a risk of possibly ending up in a more difficult OW (Dreamlands -> R'lyeh) but also a chance of the inverse, and do all that without causing LiTaS.
Does the "Fury of" version sound annoying? If you guys think the "Fury of" effect is too bad, I'll just probably do both as "Power of". "Fury of" already has enough hard mode stuff, and its "The Worlds Tremble" effect was originally identical to that of "Power of," so it doesn't bother me if I make it like that again.
EDIT: Also, what do you guys think about taking the Barganon / Barganon Rex doom tracks back down to their original value (I think I originally had it at 10), and having the Herald cards raise it to 12? I recall that the reason we were originally concerned about a short-track Barganon was the "gate switch" ability, and that is now on the Herald card...so if someone decides to use just Barganon without the herald, his track is probably too long. Would that be too confusing?

You could just compromise and change it to 11, period.
Fury of might potentially be a problem. I don't remember how often the gate switch ability is triggered. Remember, it's not really LITAS that's the problem, it's time loss.

Yeah...I thought the same, so just gave them both the "Power of" version.
As usual, Eon and image files can be retrieved from the links in my signature. Remember: Power is the normal mode, Fury is the hard.
I've also done a minor edit to the Barganon / Barganon Rex AOs, available in the Ancient Ones thread (just changed their Doom tracks to 11, like Avi suggested. Power / Fury have much less impact on game time now, since they cannot cause LiTaS or increase OW exploration time, so I considered it appropriate to reduce the doom track a little.

I have two minor concerns about this:
1. The card is *packed* with text. Printing this out would require a jumbo sized printing.
2. Personally, I think Barganon is a good AO, but I can't honestly say I feel he changes the game enough that I'd go out and print him (his main interesting effects are in final battle, and I *hate* final battle).
Consequently, I was wondering if you'd mind creating yet a *third* herald (I'd do all the revised text and editing) that'd be designed to take up much less space textually and not refer to the Ancient One?

If you've got some ideas for what you want, I could, though I'm very much ready to be done with Barganon revisions and move on to something else. :-P I've gotten this stuff where I'm happy with it and think it properly makes a strange experience. If all you want is mention of the AO gone, then do you just want me to make one that removes the "In This Wondrous Hour" effect? That would remove a good chunk of text.
To be honest, as far as the printing, though...I printed it on a normal-sized Herald card and it was absolutely readable. Worked just fine for me. My vision isn't all that great, either, and I had zero trouble reading it during play. Your mileage may vary, but it worked a-ok for me.
Also note: the changing toughness thing was a huge impact on play for us in the test game, making the enemy difficulties very unpredictable and interesting. We all enjoyed that quite a bit, and it actually was the most-featured element of the Barganon AO & Herald. (A lot easier to manage than I was expecting, too. We just kept each Mythos card out until the next Mythos phase came up.) We actually found the Barganon AO very entertaining because of that, so I do strongly encourage you to try the AO part of this (for more reasons than just that I built him ).

;') Perhaps in the non-AO version I'll type up and send you I'll incorporate the AO ability (it does sound quite fun). I'll try to write something up within the next week or two, I know you want to move on to something else. I kind of feel like it's going to make things a lot more fiddly. I think I might have a slightly altered version of it that'd be more to my liking (a +2 toughness bonus that's only on monsters in play, not trophies).

If it's the trophies you're worried over, just use B-Rex instead of Barganon. B-Rex's version doesn't affect trophies. But yeah, feel free to house-rule to your liking.

You'll see what I mean ;')
And no, I'm not worried about the trophies (I intend to write up something that doesn't give them the toughness bonus), it's just, there's a lot of card checking for something that doesn't have a major impact on the game. +2 toughness boosted monsters would make major roadblocks though (especially if coupled with something like Shub). More interesting to me.
@ Sdrolion
You'll see that I made some significant changes ;') but it's quite a nasty Nyarlathotep herald now. If you want to try it and don't have all ten masks, I'd suggest you make an alternate version where only 2 masks are drawn.
Left side of the card:
Barganon’s Fury
Chaos Unchained
Start of Game : a second monster cup is formed with all the Mask monsters in it. Treat them as Spawn monsters that return there when defeated.
If Nyarlathotep is the Ancient One, increase his combat modifier to –9 and when Masks are drawn, draw 3 instead of 1; for each that can’t be drawn, increase Terror by 1.
Right side of the card:
Storm of Chaos
Mythos : dimensional symbols drawn give non-trophy monsters with them +2 toughness until the next Mythos phase. Gates with a symbol shown on black are replaced with random gates, and investigators in those gates are moved to the same area they were in in the new gate. Explored tokens are discarded for redrawn gates. Investigators moving to a Dual Gate roll a die: 1-3 they go to the top world, 4-6 the bottom world.
If a seal prevents a gate from opening, roll a die:
1-3: Draw one random Mask and place it at the seal’s location.
4-6: Exchange non-Spawn monsters that aren’t in the Sky or Outskirts with random monsters.
Uncertain Identity
Reality twisted around me, and I awoke strangely changed…
Investigators knocked unconscious, driven insane, or lost in time and space have their investigator switched for a random new one. Keep all their cards and tokens. Do not draw new cards or tokens, but reduce Sanity/Stamina to be within new maximums if necessary and replace skill sliders anywhere.
I just reuploaded Indio's Brown Jenkin herald (I always hated the picture). This one's good though.
Very disturbing and scaring!
Nice, it's actually kind of tough finding a good picture of Brown Jenkin.
I was working on something for Avi's heraldify your guardians thread and I thought of some other cool ideas that didn't fit or didn't work with the other herald, so I created a new herald.
He's pretty rough because I haven't done this for a while, so any constructive criticism is certainly welcome!

Bringer of Hades is insane. It will break the game. You need to either make them so they only move on black or white, or make it so that you can seal gates in the street (putting an elder sign in the street). Those are the easiest fixes I can think of.
What if instead of gates gaining the moving ability, I incorporated a rift using just cerberus? A new rift marker maybe (a white crescent?), and his own rift counter track thingy on his card? That was my original idea, but it seemed kind of clunky.
