Yep, the idea was to have something threatening when you have all boards together (to counter dilution-problems). I was thinking about the possibility of adapting it to games with one or two boards. It shouldn't be that difficult to do (I mean if you play with three boards, two types of movements trigger something, let's say A), B) or C); if you play with two boards, three types of movement trigger A) or B); if you play with just one expansion board, every time a mask moves, then you have only the A) option. But I found it tremendously difficult to express it in a good English and in just a couple of lines (space isn't that big, unless until the non-euclidian Herald sheet is created)

What about something like (to be improved):

"when at least one mask monster moves, add a token to one of the following track (chose randomly from the ones in play): terror track, dunwich horror track, rift track (draw a mythos card to choose one) or rise of the deep ones track".

this way it works even with no expansion ;o)

extra tip: if you use the width 600 (from the picture menu) instead of the default img size, it fits well the page size of this forum :-)

play with the edit mssg to convince yourself :-)

:-) Yep, it works. Anyway, the idea was linking the Masks movement to some nasty things happening on all the boards (and this simply because in the games I played with all the expansions in, I've hardly seen such an intense activity in a neighbouring city as in games with only one expansion board in. So the idea to create something able to trigger all the mechanics on all the boards, regardless of the "normal" activity).

Very true! I've just tried :-) (and deleted the picture, not wanting to publish it 100 times in the same day... :-))

I really like it. I just have one complaint. There is no final battle bonus for Nyarlathotep, so if you use this as a herald for him, you'll still crunch him at the end, so, it'd be really nice if you put in something extra for his end game.

P.S. Great image :'D

An easy fix for Nyarlathotep final combat would be raising his combat modifier to -6 and giving him a start of battle ability where all investigators immediately discard down to 2 clues. But if you want to try to think of something more original... :'D

Very true. He is too easy to whack down during Final Combat. I'm going to think about this for a while and then post something. Probably tomorrow. In case I don't find anything good, I'm going to follow your suggestions :-)

Actually I do know how to do that. You need an image of the movement symbols then place the cursor where you want the symbol to appear and the markup is:

<image "file location" Xcm>

Where file location equals the location of the image and x equals the size you want the image to be in centimeters.

Thank you Avi! It's almost finished now, with dimensional symbols instead of words. More free space to add some little things

Ok, here we go:

- I changed, as Avi suggested, words with dimensional symbols, gaining space and thus

- I introduced something alternative for all the "bad stuff", so you can play with this Herald even in case you are not playing with all boards (as Amikezor wisely suggested)

- I tried to make a little tougher the final battle, basically adding a Start of battle condition that can be pretty nasty to pass.

And here is the (for now) final version:

I'll look at this more carefully later, but just from an initial eyeballing, I'd say that calling the masks Spawn is problematic (since Spawn monsters don't go in the cup). So, we'll figure out some alternate wording for that.

Also, while I like the Nyarlathotep instant devouring trick, it may not be strong enough. Perhaps it should be twice the number of clues as masks on the board.

Also, it occurred to me, when you're playing Nyarlathotep, do you mix in all the masks with the regular cup and just search for one whenever there's a monster surge?

I think the bit about the spawn monsters would be ok since they have their own cup and mechanically its the same as placing them on the sheet and random drawing. Also it's easier to say "spawn" instead of "do not count against the monster limit and never go to the outskirts"

Also I think a bit is needed in the start of game text that says "even if Nyarathotep isn't the ancient one".

Maybe I'm missing the point, don't know, but... the Start of the game ability states you should gather all the Masks in a different cup, so it should be automatic draw - for surges - the first monster from the Mask cup and the others from the "normal" cup. Or not?

Yep, good idea, Veet. Just to avoid any kind of confusion at all.
I'll wait a little in order to gather all your suggestion and then do a final edit of the Herald.

I hope you make the cost to loss change soon (I might be playing against this herald next week with a friend and it'd be fun to actually have a printout).
