Pardon my ignorance but, the RT book keeps referring to "halo zones" & I was wondering what are they & do the Halo Stars have anything to do with them?

I believe they're both refs to the galactic halo, the distant and sparsely distributed stars around the fringes of the Milky Way. The Halo Stars (capitalized) seems to be a specific arc of the halo bordering on the Segmentum Pacificus and Segmentum Obscurus, but "halo zone" could reasonably be applied to any area beyond the outer spiral of the galaxy. The outer edges of the Ultima Segmentum would reach the halo on the far side of the galaxy from the Halo Stars, for ex. Whether the Astronomicon actually lights the way that far seems unlikely - Macharius' crusade petered out in the Halo Stars beyond Pacificus, and that's a heck of a lot closer to Holy Terra than Ultima is.
