What's Your Fluff-ification for...?

By superdave, in X-Wing

How do you justify, fluff-wise, your favorite stuff to fluff-stify?

Dengar prefers going left because his ship is bigger on one side than the other.

Poe focuses so intensely that he doesn't have to actually spend his focus- he's just that into it.

What do you fluff-stify?

Vader hacks on his own ship up and throws it into the enemy, till it gets a crit

Isaard sleeps and wakes up only when sirens scream SHIELDS DOWN and a hull shivers under a blast

Farlander is a forum troll.

Jan Ors PMSes so hard that friendly ship prefers to roll 1 extra die instead of tasting her stressful gaze

Howlrunner is such a b*tch to be around that other pilots close by would rather make sure they jit their target over listen to her whine over the comms channel...

Soontir prays to emperor every night so that tomorrow his stealth device won't be discarded.

My A-wings are suicidal maniacs trying to Kamikaze their opponents out of the sky...

Except they forgot to load up there ships with explosives so they just go *bump*.

The empire has so many TIEs and so much money that they can afford to send endless pilots literally from the doors of the academy straight into battle with the galaxy's most notorious rebel fighter aces.

Horton is so egotistical he said he didn't need an EPT when that designed his card. Stupid Horton>

My new headcanon is this.

Justin Bieber, playing over imperial comms.

And rebel comms, he has to blast it into the cockpit of his own ship as well.

To respond to these I like this quote from Kartarn:

Your generic TIE grunt is just plain suicidal. And the TIE Defender jockey is bloodthirsty. But the TIE Interceptor pilot, he's suicidal and bloodthirsty. When you see a squad of those maniacs flying your way, you'd better hope your hyperdrive is operational.

Vader hacks on his own ship up and throws it into the enemy, till it gets a crit

I take it more that Vader is Force-choking the crew and tearing the guts of the ship apart in anger at them not being able to hit their target as often as he'd like.

TLTs are Star Wars equivilent of a flak gun, and that's why they consistently get 2 hits, no matter how close they are to actaully hitting the ship.

Maarek Stele's ability to pick between 3 different crits when he gets a crit comes from the fact that he's apparently the only pilot who bothered to learn how to use the "Target Individual Components" feature that all ships are equipped with.

Likewise Miranda's ability is because she's apparently the only person that's not to lazy to rebalance her weapons and shields, even though all ships can do that...

Greedo isn't really Greedo (his body is still smoking in that kriffing cantina), it's really Jar Jar in a Greedo mask.

Boba Fett doesn't just have two different voices, he has two different pilot cards.

Corran doesn't mean to shoot twice in a row, the firing buttons just get jammed.

Tycho is a total Glitterstim addict.

I can't like this more than once... oh well.

Palpatine takes up two crew slots because any ship carrying the Emperor needs to have multiple crew quarters converted into a big luxury suite. The ruler of the known galaxy doesn't fly economy class.

I thought it was because he was carrying around a huge sack of youngling heads.

This is actually my brother's, but worth mentioning:

"Night Beast" gets a free focus on his greens because he's actually a pretty good pilot, but he's also extremely hung over from another late night and has a harder time focusing if he does any less-than-easy maneuvers.

Love this. I love trying to explain how mechanics and abilities would translate from their IRL intent-

Latts Razzi: she spends her target lock to reduce a target's agility. She does this by firing so frequently and wildly (spray and pray) that the target spends a little extra effort (one agility die) to avoid her suppressing fire, meanwhile her squad mates get an easier shot for the distraction. Or her, but when I fly dual YVs it's usually Latts and Bossk.

Why does rebel captive stress scum pilots?

Why does rebel captive stress scum pilots?

Because that captive has a sweet bounty on their heads and one condition .. must be taken alive.

Biggs: Imperial pilots love bragging and all Rebel pilots are indistinguishable in their flight suits and helmets. Imp pilots really want to brag about blazing "the git with the moustache" .. the only Rebel they can tell apart from the others.

Well, I exclude Porkins. But everyone knows he detonates before the Imps even get to their TIEs.
