Harbinger: Demon of Pride

By gatorcoffee, in Talisman Rules Questions

"When you defeat the Demon of Pride, change all of your Craft points into Strength points."

Anyone have a suggestion? Yes, common sense would say up to starting quotas. But what if you have only starting quotas? Since most of the Harbinger cards are double-edged, wondering what the consensus opinion is for dealing with this one.

Your base values do not change. This is where its important to understand value versus total stat. Basically it swaps all of the strength and craft tokens you have "gained" but not strength or craft from starting quotas or gained through objects or followers. Meaning anything you've gained from turning in trophies, rolling a 6 at the forests or crags or from the temple, landing on stream of knowledge, etc, all of that swaps around.

This is no new effect, it is present on the Magician card from the Reaper Expansion. The Demon of Pride is a forced change, while the Magician is an optional and adjustable change.

Craft and Strength "points" are the cone-shaped counters in this case. You exchange all Craft counters for Strength counters.

If you have only starting quotas, nothing happens.

Thanks guys. Knew the difference on definitions, just wondering how others addressed it since they're usually good about adding that footnote

It would have helped if they'd called them 'counters', as they were called in the original rules.
