The Simplest X-Wing Fix

By DirbYh, in X-Wing

This thread has some serious quote ziggurats going on. Fairly difficult to climb them, so TL;DR.

Field-tested both Double-Batman and Rebel Cerberus lists both having

Um, huh? I was able to see what tha hell BatWedge was supposed to be, but whatever netlists these are supposed to be I just don't know.

Too much lingo...

Some people claim X-wing requires a 2-point cost reduction and some extra beef, so taht T-65 would be in every goddamn list out there.

Other(s) imply IA is a great fix for generics and making a 2 point reduction will toppe the already cracked balance.

and that XXXXX list is over-the-top. especially considering it's a XXXXX with R1 integrated astros.

In other words, some people fap to X-wings and want them OP as hell, others don't.

Nobody light a match, that strawman's so large it could destroy the whole thread!

I to, take great care when I toast my bread for breakfast! Burnt toast is blek! (although I can fix it with to much jelly if need be)

All this about jousting efficiency...

I was under the impression that "jousting", or the act of simply flying headlong into a firefight, was a bad thing. Aren't you supposed to... oh I dunno, get out of arc, flank, prioritize targets, plan maneuvers and outfly your opponent?

I mean, if we're just gonna put up a block of models and push them across the table firing blindly with handfuls of dice... why aren't we playing Warhammer?

The only response that deserves

1 forward is TREMENDOUSLY powerful

3-hard is also important, you don't feel it until you start flying S&V where it's often nowhere to be found.

Shield-hull ratio

Integrated astromech is even better than 1 hull or 1 shield.

it's a SUPER efficient "look at the crit. discard it before resolving"

that keeps giving you an astromech bonus for the beginning of the game (and a greed turn is a boon for K-turn lover X-wing is.

Would say that the Kihraxz dial is better than the x-wing dial. The 1 forward is nice, but so is that 5 K-turn. Having two K-turn options and an extra green maneuver is really nice. Likewise, I think the hard 1 turns are amazing, and more useful than the hard 3s.

I would also say that the astromech slot is not as good for generic X-wings as the Illicit slot is for generic Khirax pilots. Yes, there are a few very nice named astromechs, but they are largely wasted on generic pilots. And none of the generic astromechs has any real synergy with the x wing.

I do like integrated astromech a lot and I think it's a significant step in the right direction. But I dont think the x wing is quite fixed yet.

For that matter, I don't think the Khiraxz is quite where it needs to be either. Like the X-wing, I think it suffers from a squad cost that is too high and thus it suffers against things like PWTs and Arc Dodgers that can simply do more for their points.

Unfortunately, scum is behind in both ships and ship fixes, so it may take even longer for the Khiraxz, Scyk, and Starviper to find their niche in the metagame.

I am devoutly hoping that future ship fixes do not come packaged in Epic ships when they could be done more affordably in Aces expansions. ;)
