Droid Army

By mazz0, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

I want to run an all droid army. We don't have enough for this yet do we (IG-88 and two sets of HKs, assuming you don't buy loads of sets of RtH)?

So, what else could they do?

I hope for, but don't expect, a unique HK-47.

Maybe standard battle droid, seems perfectly reasonable that some crime lord would have a load of them. What would they be like - less powerful than Stormstroopers presumably, so either cheaper, or you'd have four in a group?

What else? Droidikas? The big battery droid?

Tactical Droids from Clone Wars could be added. There are bound to be a few still kicking around.

Battle Droids seem reasonable.

EV-9D9 would be possible for another character.

I'm not entirely sure how they'd be useful, but the GNK Power Droids would almost certainly have to come into play--they're iconic.

Rebels have a few utility droids the mercs can borrow.

Id love to see Mr Bones added to the Rebels side. He's a badass droid.

I did try this out, enjoyed it lots but lost to a rebel hero list. It was:

IG88 with targeting computer (allows rerolls)

Elite HK

Elite probe

Reg probe

Reg probe

Imperial officer

Imperial officer

Temporary alliance

(It was before the changes to the officer)

It ran well, assassin droids and IG are a good combo, regular probe droids are very underwhelming. Didn't have a command card lost (playing simplified) but I know there are some good droid cards out there

Definatly a list I will try again

Battle droids would be interesting, and I beg FFG to make R4 and R5 droids as cheap units who offer new possibilities, heck they could have the R4 be like R2 but then have an attachment which turned it effectively into a turret. And GNK droids could be implemented as movable cover or waddling bombs, maybe both.

Couldn't you add in temporary alliance and get Threepio and the new Medical droid? I think that gets you to 40 (or very close to it).

Oh, good point, I hadn't thought about bringing in droids from one of the other factions!

Say, did T3-M4 happen to survive for thousands of years like HK-47 did? :P

add the droids from the new DARTH VADER comics? Triple-Zero and BT?

I want Gonk!
I made my roleplaying group forever terrified of GONKs because I used one as a bomb once, now I only need to bring that to IA.

Gonk Droids are coming soon to X wing, and I'm quite excited about it. Only problem is, FFG hasn't revealed what they do...

You can do it in skirmish too

IG 88 12

HK reg 8

Hk elite 11

Temporary alliance 1

r2 d2 3

MHD 5

40 points total

Three damage dealers and 2 medics, its not ultra competitive but it can work

It gets you very close, by 3 points, which could be used in targeting computers and explosive weaponry

Yeah, that's what I just came up with, I'm just not loving the two rebel droids, like you said, not really damage dealers, kinda niche.

Isn't that what I suggested 4 days ago? Just with threepio instead of R2.

:P

Still we need more. Battle Droids, Droidicas, MSE-6 Series Repair Droids, battery droids and HK-47 please. Now.

It was, i quoted you but it failed because i tried to quote you via editing my original post.

As has been mentioned in the "HKs good or bad" thread, they're squishy and need to stay at range.

So what's a good close range droid? I suppose cheap disposable Battle Droids could be used as filler, but ideally we'd have some mêlée droids. Anything like that in the EU?

Oh, what about General Grievous' guards? IG-100s apparently: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/IG-100_MagnaGuard

Clone Wars had some "Assassin Probes" that were all blades and such.
