How well does this function as a family out-of-box game?

See the topic: I'd like to get a new game for family game night, and I've enjoyed netrunner and Lord of the Rings(also from Fantasy Flight), but I've enjoyed those as a competetive game, and a co-operative game respectively. How does this one hold up?

I have 6 "board game" style decks, I.e. They are all fairly balanced and with the 4 player box able to play 4 who don't know the game very well. I find The only issue is sometimes the mechanics are a bit complex for the casual/ nongamer people.

Out of the box, works well as a 2-player competitive game. I guess there's no reason you couldn't play 2v2 with the starter decks in the core set, but the rules for 2v2 won't be in core box (but are in the downloads section of the site, I think).

If your family is playing Netrunner, than they can handle the advanced rules of this LCC. I find it to be easier the Netrunner. The Core set is meant to be played as a two player game.
