Who mounts a turret on a thing that has more than 180o of its arc blocked by the panels?
And where do they get the 360 degree field of fire?

How often will they shoot their own wings off?
Son, I'm Sorry...They Got Us
would be SO cool to see a reference like that, if they ever decide to do it ![]()

Wait so the wings are now officially back to solar panels? Make up your **** minds Disney.
The 360 field is in a cone extending downward. Awkward, but viable in the game since we are already truncating space to two dimensions for ease of play.
Also, turrets shooting off your own tail is the same kind of problem as WWI fighters seemingly shooting off their own propellers. Actually, forward mounted guns aimed through the propeller had a timing chain that only allowed triggering of individual rounds when the prop blades were not in the way. Similar interlocks could prevent actually firing when your aim interferes with your own ship components.
I would prefer a rear arc for the SF, but the printing would be hard to fit on small base tokens, and it needlessly penalizes the ship from being able to have that 360 cone field of fire that is suggested by the lore. I bet we just get a PWT.
I doubt we get it, it's hardly different from a regular TIE/fo
Besides, I don't want the Empire to have turrets, there are far too many **** turrets in the game as is.
IF (big **** if) they give it a turret it will be a ridiculously expensive TIE fighter. Probably starting well north of 20 points. That's not something I think I'm willing to pay for.

I don't get it.
I wants my mag pulse!
I think it's super weird to have weapon systems get mentioned, and then never have them used. Rebels has been doing this a lot lately too.
Half of what made the original trilogy so endearing was its tendency to mention all sorts of things offhand that have no bearing on the plot or relevance to anything really. That's where stuff like the Clone Wars, Kessel Run, Tosche Station, and wamp rats, T-16s, and Begger's Canyon all come from.

"Someone must have told them about my little manoeuvre at the Battle of Tanaab!"
Just enough to let us know Lando would be useful in the fight.
So apparently I'm the only one who couldn't tell the special forces tie from a regular tie fo?
I still think this is an elaborate joke on the community's part to convince other people it exists.
shhhh
no one must know we just splashed red paint on some FOs so they would go faster and called it a day
Well poe did say it was fast

hm.. the cynic in me says it's quite easy:
there is money in it. hence, it will be made.
also: tech-upgrade/title that is a turret, so no turretslot, so no tlt (wouldn't want that, either).
Edited by WokeUpDeadHow often will they shoot their own wings off?
About as often as the Falcon shot off its radar dish.
Sure the TIE's wing obstruct more but it's the same principle. And I guess the warhead launchers are in the heavy weapons turret.
Though I would love a seperate model for /sf I would be happy with a title that allowed firing out of arc as well as adding missile/torp slots, and maybe even boost (but that's probably overkill). Migh want to add another hull too. Hmmm, sounds like that title will cost about 5, 10 or more.

Don't forget to add the extra shield(s) too (which it apparently has)
TIE/sf (or /FO with title)
Hull 4, shield 6, att 2 PWT, Agi 3
Just those stats should start it at 20 or so points at PS1. Probably more. Adding secondary weapons or more actions will increase it more, even though torp and missile slots aren't bonuses and should give a ship a negative point cost. Poor Scyk.

Thing with the falcon is
1.) Two turrets (top and bottom)
2.) A LOT more unobstructed space to shoot
The tie/sf has a single (almost phallic) turret below the...cockpit
Only way it's not shooting its wings off is firing at targets in front, behind and below

or if it flips to the side and then shoots like its shooting below
I don't remember the /SF being depicted as having the turret depress, it's only been shown firing ahead and to the rear. So who knows. If the turret can depress then Finn could totally shoot stuff if the pilot rotates he ship 90 degrees, kinda like the sideways maneuver that Rey used to give Finn a clear shot on Jakku.
But that's not how turrets work in this game. Oh well.
One thing I didn't see mentioned was the model. One of the TIE/sf's biggest differences is the ventral turret -- the venttal turret that sits right where the ship peg should go. I expect they will use a curved peg like in the B-wing so we can appreciate the turret.

Curves let would ruin the rear gunner window, which really looks different than the /fo and any other TIE. Honestly with ur issues with placing a peg we might not see the /sf as a model at all. Title looks more likely than ever.
It is entirely possible, that FFG could invet a new peg, such as with the ghost. Most logical place is to put a sideways curved or angled peg from the bottom of one of the "cogs".

Tougher than a K-Wing and as maneuverable as a TIE fighter? All for 20 points?! I'd pay that all day long.
Might want to rethink those stats. ![]()

Well it was a rough estimate. Probably should be in the 25-30 range. Special forces indeed.

Wait... What? I'm not sure that is the correct term. If that is what you think, i suggest going to the doctor immediately!
6 Shields on a TIE Fighter? What are you smokin...
