*spoilers* Special Forces TIE/sf is surely coming to X-wing, but how?

By dewbie420, in X-Wing

Yeah. That's why I say 3-front-2-back.

2 front & back is fine

Some cool upgrade to let it shoot out both at once, perhaps

And if they do that, they should leave it available to Firesprays too, and there's a balance patch on the sly. ;)

nah, just allow front-arc attacks to be supplemented by the turret upgrade since the pilot's firing arc-locked guns and the gunner is pitching in

boo

why are we assuming that the TIe/SF is going to be an add-on to the Tie/FO? They're completely different ships just as the Tie/FO and Tie/LN are different, despite obvious similarities

whatever FFG does with it is going to come printed on the TIe/SF pilots' bases

based on the movie, though, it's an aux arc ship

based on the movie its a 360, because if you remember when they steal acquire one inside the SSD he shoots behind to clear up the riff raff, but underneath he shoots in front. the direction of travel.

we sure it doesn't have two sets of weapons?

because turrets would be incredibly stupid on something even Poe was impressed by (dude flies a T-70; it ain't no slouch!)

imagine TLTs on that thing :o

i would imagine a "crew tax" would be the cost of a turret. meaning it can only be active if theres a crew... i mean Poe did go over an assorted list of goodies (munitions) that were on the ship, but said them at a rate of speed i was only able to hear one or two, then imediately forget them.

and now the emperor'll Kallus'll be riding on one of them

or rebel captive; imagine!

just keeps getting better n better <_<

Rebel captive: SHOOT YOUR FRIENDS BEFORE THEY SHOOT YOU, FOOL!

**** that'd be crazy, right?

"LOOK, IF YOU DON'T KILL MY BUDDIES, THEY'LL KILL US. JUST DO IT."

How about instead of a turret upgrade slot, give it a Cannon slot.

Then a Special Forces Tie Title to allow the Cannon to fire ineeither front or aft auxillary arcs.

And maybe fire primaries and cannon in same turn, but that borders on the same as the Defender title, so that is probably not good.

Crew doesnt make sense since the gunner/crew is only for the same purpose as the Ywing, and that is to fire weapons.

So it woud have Cannon, Missile, and Tech slots.

Its dial should be the same as the TIE/FO, same with its agility and attack dice.

Give it 1-2 shield (I figure it might get better shields than an FO), and either 3-4 Hull, (the higher number is to represent the reinforced panel joints).

Or give the TIE/SF 2 tech slots, and add a tech slot turret weapon, which would also allow for the turret gun we saw Poe use.

And add a Mag pulse warhead missile- 1-2 range, 3 dice, if a hit gets through, it deals a weapon disabled token (which is not discarded at the end phase if the target already activated in this combat phase)

So apparently I'm the only one who couldn't tell the special forces tie from a regular tie fo?

I don't think a turret and crew is the way to go. If the Y-wing does not have a crew then the TIE/sf should not.

I think a aux arc like the firespray is the way to go about doing it.

empire needs a small base turret

Yes it does, and that's going to be the Aggressor.

Or, you could do an either/or...

i.e. it comes with a turret slot and forward primary just like a Y-Wing, but it also comes with an upgrade that removes the turret slot and replaces it with a crew slot, letting you make a less firepower heavy, support-crew style ship if desired.

No it isn't. The TIE/SF is coming first.

No it isn't. The TIE/SF is coming first.

Which isn't going to have a Turret.

Mag Pulse warheads mean Thrawn is now canon. Or at least one part of TIE Fighter the PC game is now in a SW, so... everything in the game is canon now!!!!! Cause that's how it works, right? Right?!

And X-wing and the other games too. Farlander! Stele! Those Azamen people, I guess.

Or....it's just one line and even though it's super cool that someone somewhere who worked on the script had actually played the game.

I wants my mag pulse!

I don't get it.

I wants my mag pulse!

I think it's super weird to have weapon systems get mentioned, and then never have them used. Rebels has been doing this a lot lately too.

'Tis better to have a Chekhov's gun and not need, than need it and not have it

Props. All the weapons, vehicles, races, planets and possibly characters created in what is now called Legends are all props that the new canon can and will use. Hopefully thy'll manage it better this time than when it was the EU.

I still think this is an elaborate joke on the community's part to convince other people it exists.

To be fair, it is kind of hard to tell on screen with them flying all around. But the backside is definitely different.

How often will they shoot their own wings off?

shhhh

no one must know we just splashed red paint on some FOs so they would go faster and called it a day

But everyone knows the red ones go faster!

Where the heck are the missiles on this thing? Turret mounted I guess?

They can do secondary weapon only rear arcs, the Ghost already has one.
