*spoilers* Special Forces TIE/sf is surely coming to X-wing, but how?

By dewbie420, in X-Wing

I know it looks different from the regular TIE/FO, but it should just be a title card for the regular TIE/FO. Why make a whole new TIE that has to nestle somewhere in between all the other ties? I guess you could make it separate and make it turret focused, but that seems lame since the turret should be fixed fore & aft. I've assumes that turret using ships are limited to the Empire for the same reason Astromechs are. Just a downside to the faction.

TIE/FO title gives it a crew slot & if you fill the crew slot, you can attach a small point turret (4 pts or less maybe) and the turret should be limited to fore & aft. Then include some cheap turret card in the pack like a 4 point ION Blaster with 2 attack or less range or maybe doesn't do any damage on a hit, just gives the ion token.

New model...slightly bigger..all the extra details on it.

Start it at more towards the 30 point range so three with upgrades fit in list.

Turret,crew,bells,whistles.

There are too many features to NOT make a new expansion for the TIE/sf...not just a title.

A title upgrade is more fitting for "Black One", Poe's custom T-70. (But FFG should still make a new ship model -Just include copies of Poe and generic T-70 pilot cards)

I'm fine with whatever they do with the arc as long as this is not ANOTHER 2 attack TIE. As a primarily Imp player, it'd be nice if this were fighter that was closer to that of a T-70.

I think the tie SF is a lie.

We have a new tie fighter in the game...the fo .

That's it.....there never was a sf. All the ties in the movie are the same.the ffg people did not see the movie early or anything. They did the best they could with the little info that was allowed, and the very few images.

We have been playing the "sf" the entire time.

Then the movie comes out....everyone sees the little antennas now, and that Abrams....Abramsed up the tie fighters to make them slick and lensflarey.and ...uh.oh...it's now a Abramsed up two seater and turrets and missiles and lions and tigers and bears.

Oh my.

Whatever shall we do.

Quick....say the one in the movie is a different type....and....yeah.that's it.

You

You do realize

That standard TIE Fighters chased The Falcon on Jakku?

...No, no you don't realize that...

best picture I could find of the Tie's in the chase scene.

Well how about that, Honeybun. No cogs, fat engine, or turret!

Oh, wait, hold on.

What's this!?

Definitive proof that both exist with detailed cutaways? Whoa.

But, you'll have to bear with me here! This was locked away tight in Disney's J.J. Abrams Vault, where he keeps all of his secrets, and his gold! Because those are both true. So I was in a real hurry, and a bunch of mouse eared stormtroopers are chasing me to get this hard to find, super rare evidence back. But I should be okay, not only are they terrible shots, but their best officer is busy running a plate at the DMV.

I pity her.

Would you look at that.

Crazy, right?

Twin Laser Turrets are Imperial Weapons too! :(

(Taken from Banshees are Multiplayer Vehicles too!) ;)

Marinealver... How about a "Twin Laser Cannon" 3 dice twice, just like the TLT, but a cannon version. And make it cost 4 points.

you mean like that fighter imps have with 3 red dice like a t 70, 3 shields like a t 70, and 3 hull like a t 70, and one more agi than a t 70?

See for me, half the reason to do it is because of the look. I love all the added details on the ship. The cool factor is a huge part of why I, and I'm sure many others, buy these things in the first place. Honestly I'm sure whatever gameplay stuff they go with (turret, aux rear arc, or whatever), will suit me fine. I'm gonna find a way to get two of them on the board regardless, because I love how the ship looks. I'm even considering picking up a second Decimator and painting it up First Order Special Forces style, so it'll fit in.

Again a canno and missile, and then an auxillary ar on a FO.

With a title that allows the cannon and missiles to fire aft should be enough to make it different from an FO and make it a big threat on the table.

Not expecting a secondary out of an aft arc could be a major shock to someone mid game.

Aux arc and missile slot sound fine to me (especially if you can fire it out aux). Crew would be awesome too. How do you make a 25pt tie that doesn't poof immediately?

Was mostly joking but it was more to point out that there is a whole secondary weapon slot that is denied to the Imperials. now sure there are upgrade slots that are faction specific such as the astromech slot for rebels and the illicit slot for scum. But as far as weapons go turret upgrades are not faction specific as both scum and rebels have them. As for the tech slot that is more of an era upgrade and as of now there really isn't enough upgrades in that slot to make a difference but the turret slot has made one heck of a difference. With Imperials being left out in the cold there needs to be an imperial ship that can have a turret.

NICE!!!! I happily stand corrected! Also, more cheerful and less `grumpy old man` about it.

thanks for the find good sir.

Huh.

I'm... Really glad you took it in such stride, actually. Awesome!

But yeah no those are two very different fighters. It's pretty cool actually.

TIE/sf

You can fire your [cannon] secondary weapon through your auxiliary firing arc

Cannon: Mag Pulse launcher

Attack: 3

Range: 1-2

If this attack hits, the target receives a Weapons Disabled token. It cannot attack for the rest of this round.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Magnetic_pulse

Okay, perhaps it just has a regular missile launcher and mag pulse warheads are just a new type of missile. With the above effect :)

Yeah, aside from the fact that it costs 6 more points for the most expensive pilot, and can't fly around regenerating shields all the time.

I have to get that book, my inner child is too strong.

I'm way on board with the entire topic.

So in that vein...

For sure...new model.little turrets and antennas..slightly bigger..

3 attack dice

3 defense dice

3 hull

2 shields

Turret slot

Crew slot but only takes its own crew card...none of this...tactician,gunner,rec spec stuff

Just its own 'copilot guy' card with a "insert______ ability here"

Torp or missle,system,tech, yadda yadda.

And expensive.

I'm talking e wing expensive.

I would like a SF tie to be more of a super ship and not another 2 dice swarm piece.

Let the current ties do that.

Let interceptors dance around

Let defenders flop back and forth and hit hard

But this... This..can be different.

Tanky, hard hitting, not a crap dial,

Crazy upgrade potential

And a price tag that keeps it at one to a list. Or no more then three naked ones.

That would be a good new flavor for imperials.

All decked out its like a poe, or a corran.

OK...already I'm thinking of an alternative....

It's own crew 'whatever' card gives it the primary turret at 360.

But if you take a tactician or whatever it's still just a forward arc.

I typically can't stand the "hey, how about this *random idea I'd like added to the game* type of discussions but..I find myself drawn to this whole SF/tie notion.

So, theres that

So, here's where I currently stand on how the TIE/sf should be handled:

256tbhi.jpg BCzs00L.jpg

I still say reserve the Turret upgrade slot for the TIE Aggressor.

It should have a rear arc like the Firespray.

Otherwise I agree, 3 shield 3 hull. Etc

I still just want it to have a Cannon Slot with a title/modification that lets it fire its cannon and missiles in the rear arc. Much like your idea DarthenderX, but still using the cannon for the out of arc part. Plus it does make it versatile with different cannon opitions.

What if it is a title to the TIE-FO that gives it a turret and crew slot?

What if it is a title to the TIE-FO that gives it a turret and crew slot?

This is not going to happen. No matter how many times you post saying it will/should be a TIE/fo title, it is not going to happen. It will be its own model, in its own expansion pack.

I think it's kind of amusing that there is this tiny cadre of folks who really, really want it to be a title. A title means it has to be a turret since they're not going to include a bunch of replacement ship tokens that show the aux arc for the title. I'm OK with it being a turret, but there seem to be a bunch of folks who are concerned about the optics of the panels blocking lines of fire if they gave it a turret. So I think it'll be a rear arc and require new cardboard and that means it won't be a title.

Still, all you have to do is look at the huge amount of merchandising around the TIE SF to know it's going to be a separate ship. The TIE FO has one model kit available. The TIE SF has three. The TIE SF is available in two different sizes as toys with action figures. The FO is not. The SF is available as a Lego kit. The FO is not. There is no way the ship that Poe escaped in is represented in X-wing with a mere title.

Alt paint scheme and title. Like the iconic ship poe flies a bunch during the movie.
