This forum needs a thread that defines all the acronyms for those of us who are a little less familiar with every card. A visitor to the site shouldn't have to spend more time trying to decipher than he or she does reading posts.

I agree, and yet I disagree. First of all, I'm pretty sure there is an acronym thread floating around somewhere. The problem is that it's never on the front page for newbies to find.
I prefer if we all just abandon the use of acronyms, but that's not going to happen. And even I have been lulled into the lazy ways with the advent of Twin Laser Turret (TLT). You've rekindled my dedication to avoid using acronyms!

heck EVERY time I see EU I STILL think European Union.... and some times i have to read the post to get contextual clues to figure out just what the author was ranting about... The many definitions for OP had me confused for awhile!!! lol

I especially hate that because people use it interchangeably to mean both Engine Upgrade and Expanded Universe on this site!
A good rule of thumb is to use the full words once, then refer to their by their acronym for the rest of the post.

Just ask about specific acronyms and we'll clarify.
TLT = Twin Laser Turret. That one is common right now.
