Which preview will be out today?

By Mu0n729, in X-Wing

so real question is when is the next Non-epic related article.

I really hope the TIE Fighters get an article today.

I actually don't want the TIEs. I like the grey color over the blue anyway, and I already have 9 of them (plus 4 [soon to be 5] FO ones).

But I'll get 2-3 Gozantis anyway because I really like the ship.

I'll trade you my gray ones for your blue ones. :P

Well, the next Gozanti preview will focus on the Ties. That doesn't have much to do with Epic.

Imperial epics are way more interesting than the rebel epics (fan made scum transports are really cool though). Fight for the right and order and peace... Fly ties.

No scum for me thanks. On the rare chance I've used them I let either side spend up to 30% (ish as we are a friendly bunch) to take on their side. NO abilities work between S&V and the side they fight are fighting with. That way no goofed up synergies. Their mercenaries paid to fly for you but their still on their own side not yours.

Otherwise if it wasn't for the cards I wouldn't even own any S&V at all. Imperial Auto-Thruster Interceptors require Scum & Villainy Star Vipers, oh yeah... <_<

It looks like the Gozanti comes with Expose. Think they made a Tie fighter pilot with an ability that makes it worth it?

That is the prevailing theory.

Or, at least, that they made a TIE Fighter they HOPE makes it worth it. I don't think many people believe they can actually succeed.

Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing. It'll probably be something like "After preforming a green maneuver, you may preform a free action from an equipped upgrade card." But then everyone will still take expert handling or something, if he's not just overpriced to start with.

Taking into account that the Gozanti comes with Expert Handling and Marksmanship as well, there must be a pilot in the expansion with an ability that has something to do with actions in upgrade cards or EPTs, at least.

Well Scourge at range one can potentially roll five attack dice, but that has too many conditions for it to work well or often

May equip 2 epts and trigger both Action: header cards on a single turn? Exposed marksman wooo!!

What kinds of abilities on ties do we want to see? I'm getting pretty tired of situational damage boosts... what else would be nice and useful?

Double EPT?

Double action (1 free from an equipped card?)

Ability: You may take the same action twice in a turn. EPT

Honestly? I don't even care. I'm only getting the pilots because I'm a TIE completionist.

Unless they plan on adding Title cards for the TIE Experimental M2 and M5 , I'm not really interested.

My guess there will be a pilot with an ability similar to this:

At the start of the combat phase, you may perform 1 free action from an equipped Upgrade card with the " ACTION: " header.

If they really want to try and enable Expose, make it just before you attack, instead of start of combat, and put it on a lowish PS pilot. The timing wouldn't make much difference for most EPTs, but it would nullify a lot of one of Expose's biggest drawbacks if the AG reduction didn't happen until the attack was happening.

The problem with that is the Action upgrade cards that aren't Expose.

Expert Handling and Daredevil let you reposition right before attacking.

Squad Leader lets you tell someone else to reposition.

Marksmanship isn't really that dangerous in this situation.

The first three cards are a problem however.

Problem? I think they all just sound like I might actually use them in that case. No way they are any more valuable on a 3 hull tie below PS 7 then PTL is on Soontir or Predator is on RAC.

As soon as you move them to an activation during the combat phase, they become problematic.

A simple list would be Vader with title and ATC and Decoy, this HypoTIEtical with Squad Leader and Carnor Jax. Decoy the TIE to PS9, order Jax to boost and barrel roll out of arc, into range 1, or give Vader a third action.

Or would you like to see a lowly blocker cutting off your top ship, not getting shot at because, you know, touching. And then when it's his turn to shoot, just barrel roll a little bit backwards to open up full blast at point blank range?

Still don't think it would be too powerful. Focus down the Tie if you're that worried about it. And combos like this are possible already with things like Ysanne + PTL, or Airen Cracken+stuff. But we never see that used. But, I'd have to say this probably isn't the ability we are getting. FFG would likely be scared as well of an ability like that being too powerful even though I fail to see it.

You can already get Squad Leader into the combat phase. From a previous thread:

(Slightly off topic) The way I use Turr is in this interesting and fun list that revolves around his ability.

Turr Phennir - Squad Leader, Autothrusters, Experimental Interface, Royal Guard title = 32

Saber Squadron - PTL, Autothrusters = 26

Saber Squadron - PTL, Autothrusters = 26

Dark Curse = 16

Sabers use PTL in activation sparingly, Turr shoots, does his ability, uses Experimental Interface and Squad Leader to give another ship an action who can the PTL off that action. So much fun being able to move around in the combat phase.

It's totally fun to do, people may question its legality, but it definitely isn't game breaking. All you have to do is shoot Turr, and at PS7 with no PTL to turtle isn't that hard. Or in this hypothetical TIE fighter case, shoot the TIE fighter.

A-Wing with Test Pilot and Experimental Interface?

"Tie leader" or something

Requires tie fighter or tie f/o fighter

Requires ps4 or higher

Ept upgrade cards with the [action] header are free. or something

My guess for today's preview will be something Lord of the Rings...

...this HypoTIEtical...

HypoTIEtical, really? Come on, TIE pothetical was right there.

*sigh....
