No, there are only two days left in the week.

It's Tuesday. You know what that means...

Time for me to post a poll on facebook finding out who's coming to the FLGS tomorrow?

Hey, on the plus side, is anyone else looking forward to Imperial Assault campaigns being Mansions-of-Madness-ified?

I think I might start lugging my IA stuff to X-Wing nights for those times only like four people show up and we're all too lazy to pull out all our ships, cards, dials, cardboard, templates, and tokens (and yes, that happens a lot .) Maybe it's because our X-Wing nights here are on mondays, but sometimes we just need to unwind with a less mentally taxing game, and I think a more cooperative campaign where the iPad does all the work might be perfect for that!

We use the Descent app and have wanted the same for Imp Assault for a long time. Really looking forward to it.

If anything was gona be on par with X-Wing news for me, that was it :P

That said, hopefully we get the Silencer/R.Bomber article today. I need my fix; so that I can read the news, be excited, then realise I'll get to play maybe 5/6 games total this year and resign myself to theorycraft for eternity.

Even though I’m a little salty at FFG for the small player cap, I do hope everyone has a good time. I’ve heard really good things about the hosting store. Of course I may end up getting the “you have been chosen” e-mail so...

the big problem is if I do go and wave 12/13 drops is that I mainly fly rebels, have no interest atm for the bomber or the sheath because I don’t own the ghost. So I have no idea what I would fly. Probably Rey/Poe but idk.

You don't need to own the Ghost for the Sheathipede to be good. Indeed, it's probably not at its best when docked.

I’m really interested in why all the IA fans are so excited about the app. If they did something similar to xwing, I think I would be like “so wait... I can’t play head to head, even though the app seems it should be capable of such a thing? I can’t play the missions I already own in the mobile version?”

I mean it’s nice, but this seems like a step forward where three steps could have been made type of thing.

But then again it’s FFG, so anything is better than nothing!

For the same reason it's good in Descent - it means you can all play cooperatively without having to play 4vs1 against the Imperial player, meaning that you all win or lose together.

For RPG style games I really value the ability for one person NOT to have to play against everyone else. And in Descent, ImpAss, etc, the overlord player really does have to be adversarial, unlike the typical RPG GM.

I'm actually considering IA now because my sons and I could play together instead of one of us having to be the Imperials. X-wing is a very different beast.

Also the article makes clear that the App version of IA is a completely separate experience and in no way invalidates the out of the box version of the game.

I used to play Overlord a lot for 1st ed Descent for my friends a long time back, including the Road to Legend campaign. Its good to be able to switch out to take a breather. While my background as a RPG GM allowed me to be more laid back about losing (all's good as long as the players have a good time), sometimes another Overlord player would be a bit more cutthroat about trying to win resulting in some discontent. Being able to be 100% co-op would alleviate that.

We have an unannounced SKU. We have also seen (minor Rebels spoiler and potential tLJ spoiler)

Hera in an X-wing and a single T-65 X-wing on a Last Jedi poster. Would anyone else be excited by another T-65 expansion with Hera, Resistance Luke, Antoc Merrick and extra copies of Flight Assist Astromech.

I kindly disagree. I think the title is better than its anticipated to be. Getting a free coordinate action while not sacrificing your normal actions is huge. Also your protecting your asset. Just like the double tap you need to build the ghost a certain way to maximize its potential.

I know stridan would love the free coordinate+normal action.

I would lose my mind.

Do you mean Get to be Imperials?

Actually, whenever I play IA, I play it a lot like an RPG GM, so I'm not really adversarial. I sometimes do a lot of secret shenanigans to make sure my players don't lose the campaign unless they do something very wrong, and I usually offer advise/suggestions when asked. That being said, I think the app is good because I can never find enough people to play a full game of IA anyway.

Honestly, I don't really think this news means much for you if you don't play IA. Mansions of Madness used to take longer to set up than it did to play, and the one player who played as a GM was usually kind of isolated. Now, it's a lot easier to play and more streamlined than it was before, and it's really nice. IA usually takes a long time to set up, so this might make the game easier to play if you don't have all day.

I mean, I guess they could make an official form of Vassal or something (I would like that), but I don't really see this news directly applying to X-Wing at all.

But then how do your players feel like they accomplished something?

Because they helped finish the story, for one, which is the biggest part of a real RPG.

Also, for every primary mission that they (usually) win, there's two or three things that they could do that they don't always do, such as rescuing an Imperial prisoner, finding all the secret data tapes, or whatever other stuff is hidden in the sides of the map. My players have to actually do a good job to get all that stuff.

My point is more that I won't just have all the stormtroopers target the one character who is the most powerful and try to kill that character so that the Imperials win, and more often I'll target the character with the most health left so that nobody gets wiped out of the game. Basically, I'm looking at the map and saying "what would these stormtroopers want to do?" Rather than looking at all the cards and stats and saying "hmm, I can win if I do xyz..."

This sounds like a good way to play.

Part of the reason I am excited about the app is that our usual Imp player suffers from MAJOR analysis paralysis - which really bogs the game down.

It's Wednesday. You know what that means...

Its World War Wednesday and they post a HOI IV expansion preview article on the Paradox Interactive site?

Resistance Bomber has been unboxed on Youtube

Well that might force FFG's hand a bit....although I expected TIE Silencer next.

Does this mean the rushed preview articles will get 5 mistakes instead of 1-2?

Regional prizes have also been revealed
