I fear that "Fly Casual" article was a desperate attempt to put something up that resembled X-wing news... because FFG has nothing to report to us right now.
I'm starting to lean in this direction too. Remember Armada's wave for this year? 2 tiny ships. We've already have 4 ships announced. Maybe they're pushing the 4 unannounced product codes assumed to be wave 9 to next year because we didn't fly casual enough to earn them.

Pretty sure we aren't getting xwing news today. They already gave us that fly casual article to help them feel less guilty about not previewing anything. And we still have HotR to chew on. So ya, I'd say try not to get your hopes up today team.

Tempted to buy an interdictor and convert it into a jedi starfighter to use as an a-wing.
I wonder if there's anything conceptually on the Interdictor that could make its way into X-Wing. The two gravity effect cards seem like they could have some use, although I imagine they'd be huge or large ship only due to the size and power requirements they'd likely have...
They do seem a little Tractor Beam-y, but forcing another ship to change its speed is a design space we haven't seen used yet.
Edited by DailyRichGravity wells are basically Epic/Armada-scale tractor beams anyway, to be fair. If I recall the Death Stars had some pretty serious tractor armament for capital ships but it generally wasn't possible/feasible to work with tractor beams at that scale.
That said, I'm absolutely drooling over both the Interdictor and the Liberty even though I don't play Armada.

Why would they announce this Armada wave now instead of waiting for Origins in a month? Seems like a strange choice to me. Does this mean we might see wave 9 released in a similar fashion?
Well, it sounds like the information for pre-orders were already arriving at retailers, so they sort of had to announce the product.
And it seems we have Wave 3 Scheduled to arrive end of July
Then Wave 4 Scheduled to arrive end of September.
