The SKU numbers have me intrigued. Will Wave 9 appear in a preview soon? Are they holding out on Wave 9 info because it has Rogue One material? Will Heroes of the Resistance and Wave 9 release at or around the same time? Are those SKUs not even Wave 9?

4-ship Wave 9 or 3-ship Wave 9 plus Scum Vets would be my guess.

In a recent interview Alex Davy mentioned that after wave 9 Scum will have an equal number of ships to the Empire, so my guess is wave 9 is comprised of 1 Rebel 1 Imperial and 2 Scum.

That would be nice, yeah.

I wouldn't. It's still the same ship, only more pilots.

So when is the next likely date? Any game trade shows coming up?

To be honest, a lot releases have just been sprung on us. Wave 2, Wave 4, Wave 5, Wave 7 if I recall. It could come at any time. I'm really hoping for an article soon and a soft release and new announcement at GenCon.

But at this point, that possibility gets smaller and smaller.

My guess is we are getting a Champions of the First Order expansion sometime before Episode 8... so prob next year after Rebel Vets(E-wing and?) and perhaps after Scum Aces(StarViper and ?)- BUT I think FFG will bundle Kylo's shuttle with a TIE/sf including a Captain Phasma pilot card.

I'm hoping against hope for a wave 9 announcement. It certainly seems likely that it's imminent given the whole thing with the missing SKUs.

Well they did not wait until then to announce the new imperial assault packs, so hopefully that means they will not wait that long to announce our sweet sweet xwing wave 9

I'd personally be surprised if it was announced at Yavin, just because of how full-on a weekend it's going to be. The competition will be going from 10am to 9pm on the Saturday and from 9am til early evening on the Sunday, as well as a full-day Regional on the friday.

I don't think they'd find the time for a big announcement of a wave there.

It's in two different locations. The Games Expo - and all associated trade releases and events - are being held at the Birmingham NEC, and the Yavin event itself is being held at the NEC Hilton.

FFG have events scheduled for the Expo itself, the Yavin event is being organised and run seperately - and by the UKGE staff, not.FFG, although I'm sure they'll have some presence around the tournament, given Yavin is expected to be the world's largest single day X-Wing event.

My point is that when the 500 most dedicated players of X-Wing in the country are busy flying in a tournament together, you won't exactly get much of an x-wing audience for x-wing announcements.

I'd be kind of irked if they announced it at UKGE whilst Yavin was on actually, for that reason.
