That is the distance at which you pass by an active black hole along the path of the Kessel Run. Faster ships can pass closer to it and complete the run in a shorter time. But if they pass TOO close, they'll be consumed by the black hole.
But really, whenever anyone tries to science star wars, you should Judy chuckle.

No, that's just a hamfisted way of explaining why Han said something stupid. The real reason is the George thought it was a cool sciencey sounding word and used it incorrectly. That, or Han is a liar and a cheat and was trying to bluff his way in negotiations to get more money out of two desperate passengers.

I agree with everything you just said lol.
Also, no preview today?! What gives?! Back in the day, they would preview every 2 weeks instead of weekly. Maybe they've returned to the Dark Ages. This also likely means that the 2 week estimates based on that posting from GTS is unfortunately unlikely.

That's the old canon.
The new canon says the Kessel run is measured in realspace distance units to show how good you are at precision hyperjumping and precice landings.
So, part and parcel how the falcon jumps out of hanger bays and below planetary shields. Everyone else has to actually take off and LAND, he just hyperspaces everywhere.

Do you have a linkable source? Not doubting, just curious and would like to read more.

Sure, but there is no source listed there either? Just curious what book/comic/web site/random writer's notes/etc this actually comes from.
I always thought it was bulling them, since that's his character.

TFA spoiler:
Yeah, that would have made since, until he said it again 30 years later, unlikely someone remembers some lie they told in a bar for that long, and corrects people about it. So now unfortunately it needs a good canon explanation. Well, as much as anything in Star Wars needs and explanation (which is almost nothing), lol.
It's...so cold in here FFG.

Really? YOU'RE cold?!
I foresee a Mist Hunter preview tomorrow.
And by foresee I mean I really really hope for one. But who knows? Always in motion is the future.
We_need_Merc_faction_reviews!
Will we finally see the glorious asymmetric dial!?
Hoping for some scummy action today! It's been a while we had something new for scum
also as a sidenote: the dial upgrades and coloured bases are now available here in Germany. I wonder why they are so much faster with this than the US? I'm still waiting for the Gozanti and the TIE/fo and T-70 blisters...
I always thought it was bulling them, since that's his character.
Allen Dean Foster who ghost wrote the ANH Novelization changed it to 12 Standard Time Parts because he was a real sci fi writer and not George. Unfortunately it didn't make it to the shooting script. And of course actors can't be held responsible for knowing astronomical terms.
And now there's the need for every aspect of SW to be explained to death so Kessel either gets located right next to an insane amount of black holes or spice runners use the patented Han Solo Kamikaze Hyperjump method.
Scum epic today and Mist Hunter Friday. I can feel it!

Hmm. For years I've had it in my head that Ben Bova ghost wrote the original novel. Which was excellent by the way. At least in my teenage memory.
Let us pray for a bountiful Monday. Hope will sustain us for now, but if we are to endure, we must have substance!

The ship from China arrives in Germany, and the the stuff gets distributed further. It's the same in Poland, we often get new FFG stuff before the US.
Let the slow drum-roll commence...
