"Pre-assembled" skirmish maps

By ibsh, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Any chance we can get the second 4 player map?

There is always a chance.

Ibsh, why does the Jabba's Palace have the number 37 instead of 33?

No good reason, I just left room for the rest of the wave.

not trying to be pushy @ibsh, because we love the work you're doing with it, but any chance you have an estimated timeframe for when the rest of that wave will be up?

Nope

So, to expand: I'm mostly done with IA. I never get a chance to play it at home and, even in its Skirmish form, it just has too high a barrier of entry for new players now, with the amount of stuff that's been released. I even find myself flicking through the deployment cards from the last wave and thinking "who?".

I'll probably keep collecting the game, but just to paint the minis (although I imagine that time is about to have a huge Blood-Bowl-sized bite out of it), and to play a game once in a blue moon. But I'm not going to keep building the Skirmish maps.

What I am going to try to do is clean up and release the current tile set at 300dpi, so that people can use the tiles to build their own maps (official and custom) in a way that prints out at a decent quality. That effort will take a while, but I intend to keep chipping away at it. I might release them in stages. Someone else will have to add to the set as necessary when new expansions come out.

I will also continue to host the maps I've built already.

Apologies if this disappoints anyone.

Some disappointment sure, but it's hard to argue with any of the points you've laid out. Plus, life happens.

We appreciate all the work you've done to this point and with you the best with your future endeavors. Hope to still see you around the forums.

Whenever you'll have some inspiration to work on another map, can you please look into the new 4-player skirmish map from Jabba's realm. It is a good map but takes a while to get going with all the tiles. A map would be wonderful to get more people playing.

Did I just say I wasn't going to continue making maps?

Spoiler alert: I did.

So the reality is we need someone to take the mantle from Ibsh if he'll pass it on. He has been an amazing part of this community and we will always owe a wookiee life debt to him ;)

But who here has the ability/programs/time to take over for him? Will you step up?

I would like to try playing with the scanned tile images that @ibsh mentioned he'd share at some point to see if I can create some maps. I don't have a scanner but do have "computer skillz".

For printing just the current rotation of tournament maps (ISB HQ, Anchorhead, Jabba's) on PixArtPrinting download this zip (11 MB) .

Print tournament_maps_2017-04-09.jpg (on pixartprinting.com) at 48.0 inches wide by 24.0 inches tall (121.92 by 60.96 cm).

I'll have more options with the release of the rest of the wave. Thanks @ibsh !

Just received the tourney maps from pixart. They're perfect. Thanks both to you and @ibsh for putting these together.

I tried clicking the download for all skirmish maps, but it seems that the link doesn't work. Is that file still available?

Hmm… the file has not moved but Dropbox seems to have changed the way it handles links. Here's an updated link.

Note this file doesn't have any Jabba's Realm maps included. Ibsh has only made one ( Jabba's Palace ; part of the tournament map group you have already) but I hope to eventually have more.

WOW. This is incredible!!

Is it possible to get all the current maps printed off? How do I go about getting that done?

If you just want the current 3 tournament maps see this post .

If you meant every skirmish map (there's about 40 now) then just stay tuned (patiently).

Will do!!

Now... waiting for another coupon code!! hehe

Thanks!

Another question... pixelart says that they only take pdf's. These are jpgs... How do I go about getting it reformatted?

I have used jpegs with pixartprinting. I used adobe illustrator to stitch together 5 to make a large banner for them to print. There was someone that created a script that once ran it would do that for you. Look at the earlier posts and you should find it. It is a python script so you will have to install it on your os to get it to work.

Ok. Someone could just throw up any of their saved pdf files... hint hint. :-)

Yes, it would be awesome if people who have already successfully ordered could stick up their completed templates.

They still take JPGs at 300 DPI according to their FAQ. That's how I ordered mine. Worked great.

I made the script but I also created pre-merged files for everyone of all the maps (before Jabba's Realm) and the current tournament rotation (ISB HQ, Anchorhead, Jabba's Palace).
