"Pre-assembled" skirmish maps

By ibsh, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Missed looking into this last week with the sale. Seems like it's done now? It's quoting me about $15 per set of 6 maps (about 105" by 24") with the slower shipping option. That's the full price right?

Anyway, I made this script to download the current files and put them in appropriately sized PDFs then tell you the size to print at . Hope it helps someone. I'm in no rush so I'll order at the next sale...

Thanks for all the files ibsh!

Yeah, my order just arrived yesterday, 5 days early. This was the date for fast shipping, even though I picked the slower option. I got ALL the maps ibsh did, except the 4 player one, for <$40. That's an incredible deal.

Just want to let people know that if you are printing from the US. They are using outdoor vinyl instead of the Extreme Classic pvc. Getting them printed they are really washed out. I even tried to adjust the contrast and brightness and it didn't work. So if anybody can figure out how get it to come out better. I and I'm sure others would appreciate it. Here is a picture of the two side by side. the one on the left is the campaign maps I had printed. The right is one of ibsh maps. You can see the difference.

Weird. You specified Extreme Classic in the order? I'm sure they'd fix it for you. I've had Extreme Classic to the US on both my orders.

I'm in the US and mine came out looking like the ones on the left. Interesting. Everything is certainly clear enough for me to use them for play. I don't even see Extreme Classic as an option.

When I ordered the first time it was in Italy. This time it was in the US from Colorado and the only selection is outdoor vinyl. So I won't be ordering any more till they get the extreme classic vinyl in. I even tried to create a account in the UK and Italy sites and it kept redirecting me to the US. I even tried using the vpn software I have and selecting the UK to try to trick it. No luck in that. So not sure what I will do for the future maps that I am creating and the one's you create.

Can you show a picture of how yours turned out? the lines that make up the squares are not that pronounced enough in some areas.

Mine look more or less like yours. My eyesight is pretty good and I know where to look, so I can see the joins without any issues. But I suppose someone who wouldn't know that they're there could overlook them.

Again, I can't really argue with the price. Assuming the other material came in stock and was on an equivalent sale, I dunno if I'd be motivated to bite.

Yes the price was excellent. I would pay a little more to have them look better. I hope that they get the other in at some point.

I was gonna get a new set printed but perhaps I'll wait for the new wave, then. Might be worth giving them a direct shout, though, as it appears that their EU subdomains still have the Extreme Classic available (.co.uk has it, for example), and I doubt it's a territorial/shipping thing; seems more likely it's just an error.

I emailed them out of curiosity, I'll let folks know what shakes out.

I hope that with more people emailing them. They will get the other for the maps.

They let me know they have different production facilities in the US and Europe, and they have different materials available to them. No meaningful comment about if or when the extreme classic would be available for US orders.

If anyone will notice a sale on the european site, please post here.

Yeah I will just check every so often to see if it shows up. Or I will have to try to find another place that can in the meantime.

I contacted Pixartprinting customer service and asked about Extreme Classic vs Outdoor Vinyl. Got a BS response back this morning that they should be similar even though I provided a that photograph from above the shows that, at the very least, the black level on the outdoor vinyl is off. I reiterated this in a response but don't expect anything helpful from them.

Maybe best to order from the European store if the shipping charges aren't too much more than the US store.

FWIW I asked if I could have an order printed in Europe and shipped to the US, and was told no. So I assume that US buyers who want extreme classic are SOL until the product is available on the US page.

Again, I certainly can see the differences in the pic posted earlier, but I'm perfectly content with the outdoor vinyl quality and have played on it without any issues.

Are the maps for the campaign missions available somewhere?

It just sounded like in the previous post that campaign maps were printed, and was the one on the left. I might just print the core missions and skip side missions but when the discount is available I might get them all if they are available. I have a pretty big group that plays and I'm sure they would all kick in for a single set.

Uploaded the first couple of maps from the new wave.

The Inquisitor's Mission A is both stupidly named and horribly worded. There was nothing I could do.

Will try to get Greedo up at some point soon.

Ibsh you're a legend mate.

Went to the Exeter Regionals this weekend and we used your maps for every table other than the top one, they're fantastic and enable us to get new players into skirmish in the area much easier.

Thanks again for this

Thanks Rich. Glad it went well.

Greedo's up now: if I thought the wording on Inquisitor was annoying, it's nothing to the layout of this one. It's even longer than the 4-player Hoth map, so it's basically an enormous waste of ink to print in a banner. Not a lot to be done; I laid it out to one side of the image so you can just cut off any excess. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm all ears.

Actually looks like quite a fun map though, or at least unique.

A helpful forum member here pointed out privately that Epic Loot in Ohio have been giving away my maps as prizes, and that someone is selling said prizes on eBay:

I guess this is flattery? Does anyone play at Epic Loot, and if so could you have a word? They're on pretty dodgy ground offering these at FFG events; I don't own the copyright on any of the images so, obviously, neither do they.

EDIT: for reference, I don't care about people using the maps for whatever; I'm glad people find them useful, which is why I offered them to the community in the first place. But I'd rather not have an overzealous game store owner or TO get me Cease-And-Desisted.

Got to love the fact that they've added their own logo at the bottom...
