Like Kirk here (omg this isn't stur trak forum!), I too love X-Wings... Here's a few of my lists, and maybe you can love them too...

Let's start it off with an obligatory Trench Run Squad:

Luke Skywalker w/R2-D2 + Draw Their Fire + Shield Upgrade

Wedge Antilles w/ Swarm Tactics + Hull Upgrade

Biggs Darklighter w/R4-D6 + Hull Upgrade

9 red dice, 6 green dice, 18 health... Nothing too fancy here, Biggs gets to shoot at PS9 (dats nice), Luke pulls crits for Biggs, and everyone has a little extra health to them...

Next up is Troll Wings:

Tarn Mison w/R7 Astromech + Shield Upgrade

Luke Skywalker w/R2-D2 + Swarm Tactics

Wes Janson w/R2-F3 + Elusiveness + Stealth Device

Good luck shooting at any one of those X-Wings... Tarn gets to shoot at zany PS 8 and makes someone reroll their best dice against him once per round, Luke is lolhard to kill and everyone knows it, and Wes is rolling 4 defense dice plus making a defender reroll their best attack dice... Have fun with that...

Variation on Troll Wings:

Biggs Darklighter w/R2-F3 + Stealth Device

Garven Dreis w/R2-D6 + Veteran Instincts + Hull Upgrade

Wes Janson w/R2-D2 + Squad Leader + Hull Upgrade

Biggs takes +1 Agility action, Garven feeds Focus to Biggs as soon as possible, and Wes can give Biggs a 2nd focus if need be... Garven and Wes have a little extra health to make up for their lack of offensive output

3X Double Action

Hobbie Klivian w/R2-D6 + PTL

Jek Porkins w/R5-D8 + PTL + Hull Upgrade

Wes Janson w/R3-A2 + Swarm Tactics + Hull Upgrade

I'm not crazy about this list, simply because I really, really am no crazy about Porkins ability, but... Wes stripping tokens and Porkins and Hobbie Focus/TLing on a single target can hurt pretty bad pretty fast...

X-Wing Mini Swarm

Biggs Darklighter w/R4-D6

Hobbie Klivian w/R3-A2

Tarn Mison w/R7 Astromech

Rookie Pilot w/R2 Astromech

12 red dice, 8 green dice, 20 health... Pew pew pew...

These lists are all fun and stuff, but yes, I know... They're still X-Wings... And as such these list are built on an inefficiently modeled ship with only 2 actions in their bar, a poor stat line and one dies the synergy between the rest quickly goes... I know all those things...

Bruh...

Are you seriously suggesting just flying the ships you like? Using the game's namesake?! Keeping it thematic and...and...and FUN?!!!

Gonna have to think about this for a hot minute...

Here is one for you

Biggs + R2-F2 + experimental interface

wedge + R2 + wing man

Luke + R2-D2 + draw there fire + shield upgrade.

Even though it will force Biggs into a green maneuver to remove stress, I still think I Swarm Tactics on Wedge and letting Biggs shoot at PS9...

Wing man on Wedge will remove Biggs stress . So you can do a k turn if required.

I get what you're saying... I can't wait for this XWing fix...

Thinking about try Wes Janson w/PTL + R2F2 + Stealth Dice... 4 greens and a focus on an XWing for 38 points and even if you save your focus for defense you can still strip tokens with Wes' ability...

The biggest issue I've had with X-wings is trying to run 3 Aces. However, I've had much more success running 4 X-wings, either 4 Red Squadrons or an Ace and 3 Rookies. The extra ship gives me more tactical options on the board (pincer movements, paired attacks, decoys and outflankers) than just 3 ships.

My first build that won me a tournament at my FLGS was pretty simple:

Granted, this was played when Wave 3 was brand new, but it still wins a game from time to time.

I've won a few with Predator Wedge with VI Luke and Wes in casual games... I agree 4 generics are really better than 3 aces for the most part... Unless you've got some absurd synergy between the aces, they're just not enough utility between them to compensate for what they lack in a huge way... I do prefer the Reds over Rookies just to give them a chance against Predator rerolls...

Nice lists. Will enjoy trying them. Here's an odd one I saw somewhere:

[4x] Rookie Pilot (Proton Torpedoes)

Sounds boring, but it would certainly be effective in skilled hands. Definitely gets points for shock value. Nobody likes facing 3 X-wings, but four of them carrying munitions is pretty scary. Predictable, though.

Well, keep your stick on the ice. Who knows what may be in store for us next year in the post-Force Awakens world?

I ran the following at my FLGS' Friday night casual (2 Rounds). It was the week the Raider was released so a lot of people were running Advandces with the new title. I won both rounds. First was against your standard Corran + 2 A-Wings with PTL and Proton Rockets; second was against Vader, Juno, Colzet (can't remember exactly what they were carrying).

Flew in a standard 'Finger 3' formation, concentrating fire on a specific target till destroyed (so Corran in the first round, Vader in the second were my first targets). Wes fires first, strips a token or target lock. Luke fires second and hopefully forces the target to spend any remaining tokens, then Wedge invokes Opportunist and mops up. Once you're at Range 1-2, it's very hard to dodge that many shots!

I think I'll be running this again (and no, walking away with a $50 voucher for being undefeated that evening has nothing to do with it ;) ).

Thanks!

Sure thing. :)

Essentially, Finger Three is just your standard Finger Four with the Element Wingman missing:

Four_Finger_Formation.png

I ran Wedge in the centre to minimise the amount of time he spent at range three (that extra '1' template forward or so may just make the difference between R2 & 3). Luke runs on the inside of the formation, where his ability offers him better prtection, and Wes on the outside, to increase his time at range 3.

For example, in the game against the TIE Advanced, my opponent deployed in the centre in formation. I deployed in the left corner, Luke on the right handside, Wes on the left. I proceeded to advance slowly up the board (straight 1s or 2s), causing him to become impatient and surge towards me, through the asteroid field. I then swung in and targeted a single ship at a time.

Once you've got the numerical superiority (or at least evened the numbers up), feel free to break formation and force your opponent to do the same. But try ensure you still target the same ship with all the X-Wings. At Range 1, you're looking at 13 attacks from the three ships (4 each for Luke and Wes, 5 for Wedge).

That's also called the Vic formation. It was used by the RAF at the beginning of WW2 but was found to be inferior to the Schwarm or "Finger Four" formation flown by the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain.

Very true. :) (I'd forgoten the RAF name for it, thanks!)

Poe Dameron w/Push The Limit / R2 Astromech / Autothrusters

Wes Janson w/Wired / R3-A2 / Hull Upgrade

Garven Dreis w/Veteran Instincts / R2-D6

I think as the meta shifts to 3-4 ship builds, 3 ships shooting at PS8 is going to be an advantage... Garven gets to pass his focus immediately or last, whichever is needed... Wes can shoot and stress, then gets to reroll a focus with Wired... Poe just bein Poe...
