It is disappointing, I was hoping it wasn't a repeat of the core set. I just can't justify buying a second box just for the cards to use the figures included in the first box.
Twin Shadows: Has anyone played??
You think we could get photos of all the tiles and both their sides?
Here you go:

Those really are nice tiles. can't wait to work them in to my own campaigns.
The big title in particular is amazing.
How many deployment cards do we get for the Heavy Troopers? Is it only one regular and one elite or can you deploy both groups as the same level?
1 regular card and 1 elite card obviously. Why would it be any different?
Because in Skirmish you could have 2 regular or 2 elite squads with the provided figures.
Now was your answer based on what's actually in the box, or how you think it'll "obviously" be?
Look at the picture again, theres only 3 imperial cards. 1 for regular heavy stormtrooper, 1 for elite heavy stormtrooper, and 1 for Kayn Somos.
I see, same for the Tusken Raiders.
Siiiighh
I mean I knew they would do it again, but I'm still super disappointed.
FFG, if you're reading this, this is bollocks. Absolute, utter bollocks. Why do you do this to us? I wish I had the writing skills to write a long open letter as to why this is NOT OK.
I love FFG, they're like 9/10 stars company to me. Could be 10/10 but this, everytime! Netrunner (and every other LCG): buy 3 Cores because of a few single cards, Armada: missing 1 blue dice, IA: buy 4 Cores to get enough regular Royal Guards and now same for this expansion.
Could've just included that 1 card and all this frustrations would've been averted.
As far as figure distribution in the boxed products, it's all been completely backwards from the beginning. EVERYTHING unique should be included in the boxed product (unless it's released as part of an in-between wave, of course), and EVERYTHING non-unique should have tokens, and if you want the figures you buy them separately. You'd think that would be the whole point of supplemental figure packs, to give you the flexibility to build your army the way you want without paying for what you don't. Instead they've made it effectively mandatory to buy at least one of every figure pack AND multiples of every boxed product, paying for tons of extra components you'll never need.

I think the reason it seems backwards to you is that you have a standpoint based in skirmish whereas the game was developed with a focus on the campaign. As someone who likely won't play skirmish the way the have it the base game is enough and the add-ons are just that. Using a few tokens doesn't hurt the feel of the campaign; using all the stormtroopers etc would. Having said that I understand the need for ffg to make packs for all the troops in the boxed games in the same way as storm troopers.
The big title in particular is amazing.
I personally like the U-Turn and the Y hallway tile. Of course I already have a campaign mission that's going to use the bridge tile.

They really are quite the marketing geniuses aren't they?
And how do the epilogues work like? Since I red that there are 12 epilogues, I would guess that each mission has two different epilogues. Is it an additional encounter depending on success of the mission or is it just different textual ending (to differentiate mini-campaign from side mission) with different rewards?
What are the green triangular tokens?
Saska Teft's device tokens.
Yes, Device Tokens, a total of 8. She uses them not unlike the Champion in Descent, can throw them out then depending on which skills she's learned, the person with the token can spend it for boosts on attacks, tests, etc.

There are 6 new missions, listed in order of the mini campaign:
1 - Hunted Down : Green Side Mission, time period 2-4, Han Solo as reward
2a - Past Life Enemies : Red Side Mission for Biv Bodhrik's
2b - Shady Dealings : Red Side Mission for Saska Teft
3 - Canyon Run : Gray Side Mission
4a - Fire In The Sky : Agenda mission (Pursuit of the Enemy set), time period 1-5, Bounty reward card
4b - Infiltrated : Agenda mission (The Empire's Reach set), Surveillance Operatives reward card
the "a" missions are if the Rebels win the previous mission, "b" for imps. They are separate missions though, so are represented outside the mini campaigns as side missions. Missions 4a and 4b use the same map layout, just different details.
So basically, if you're playing the mini campaign, those are the 4 missions you'll end up playing. If you're playing a regular campaign, depending on the time period, you can include those missions while building your Agenda deck, and for the Rebels while they're building their Side Mission deck. 1 gray, 2 reds (only if you're including those heroes), and 1 green.

With the second mission being either biv's or saska's side mission does this mean you have to play this mini campaign with at least these two heroes? There are 6 new missions, listed in order of the mini campaign:

They could use them as free allies if they're absent.
None of the heroes are usable as "allies", this expansion nor core set. If you're not using Biv and you end up playing his mission in the mini-campaign, there is an alternate reward you earn (credit) instead of Biv's special Reward Card.
As for Hero count, yes, 2 to 4 heroes, just like the normal campaign (2 heroes gain Legendary, 3 heroes gain Heroic).
-shnar
Thanks for the info Shnar. How weird that they did it that way.
They did follow the pattern that Descent established. All the missions are usable as "rumor" missions. In fact, when Lair of the Wyrm first came out, none of the missions were connected, there was no mini-campaign at all, even though each missions had a narrative that connected it to the next mission. They tacked on the mini-campaign afterwards, and that's been the established way for the rest of the small boxes (until now, see Bilehall).
So makes sense that the first IA small box would be similar: 2 heroes, 2 groups of villains, a couple "lieutenants", and missions that can either be played as part of a bigger campaign, or connected for a mini campaign. IMHO, they did a good job. I've played through this campaign 3 times now, and the 'mini' campaign does a fantastic job at condensing the *time* the campaign takes, while still giving the *feel* of a campaign (character growth). I've even had these missions come up as side missions, and they fit the normal campaign quite nicely.
-shnar
Alternate reward. Now I see
So, a question for those who bought the ally/villain packs: do the included skirmish maps use tiles from Twin Shadows?
Yes, but only Boba Fett's pack. R2/Threepio's pack and Kayn Samos' pack only uses Core tiles (for the skirmish missions, the side/agenda missions is the opposite).

I am overall disappointed with the items not because they are bad but because they fail to fill the holes in the item decks.
The tier 1 deck already has 2 low cost melee weapons that are barely better (or better in some situations) than the starter. We needed a melee weapon that costed around 500 and was a meaningful upgrade rather than a third low cost. The hunting rifle is fine, tho it is really only good for 1 character.
The carbine is a fine weapon but is virtually identical to the A280 (carbine has slightly higher damage, A280 is slightly better at ranges >4), I don't understand why they made it so similar. The mod is the one card I truly like, and the core ranged mods in tier 2 were weak/specialized.
The DLT-19 is also a fine weapon, but has the exact same role as the DXR-6 (I need to do the math to see which is better). There is only 1 tier 3 melee weapon, so I'm disappointed we didn't get one. Hidden Blade is a waste of a tier 3 card imo. The hidden blade is a waste of a tier 3 card imo.
Edited by DeadwolfIs it correct, that Twin Shadows comes with no more than 3 Command Cards?
I've already seen Saska's and Biv's unique Command Cards. Can someone post a pic of the remaing Command Card(s)?
Edited by DerBaerI do not have the game but you can find it at the end of Team Covenant's video (around 16:26):
No one has commented on Tool Kit yet? It's so good!
One XP to never worry about succeeding on an attribute test for the whole campaign. Gaarkhan, go slice that terminal. Jyn, smash that door open. Yes, please!

It's "using practical solutions" which involves discarding a device token so it's nowhere near that good.
