Is 4 copies of one card allowed in a deck?

By mr.thomasschmidt, in Warhammer 40,000: Conquest

Long time LotR and W:I lcg player. Just read about deck building in the learn to play guide. As in every other lcg it states that only 3 copies of the same card is allowed in a deck. But at the same time it is mandatory to use all the 8 warlord signature cards. And amongst them there is one with 4 copies. For instance, with the space marines the there's 4 x Sicarius's Chosen. What??

The Warlord signature set is considered separate from the rest of the deck. It must be taken as is and can not be modified. If you look at the numbering on the cards you will note that each copy has its own number. For all intents you one copy each of four cards with the same name but different number and place within the signature set.

The deckbuilding rules address this directly:

"When constructing a tournament deck, a player first selects a warlord. His deck then includes:

  • The 8 cards from the chosen warlord’s signature squad ( mandatory ).
  • Up to 3 copies each of any non-signature card(s) from the warlord’s faction.
  • Up to 3 copies each of any non-signature , nonloyal card(s) from one (and only one) neighboring faction on the alignment wheel.
  • Up to 3 copies each of any neutral card(s).
  • A minimum of 50 total cards, not including the warlord itself.

The use of "mandatory" in the first bullet and "non-signature" in the second and third tell the deck builder that the "3 copies max" rules do not apply to signature cards like Sicarius' Chosen.

Okay. Thanks for clearifying :)
