Does "instead of" mean that order gets discarded, or player uses this card and on his next turn he plays that order?

You play the card and when it's your turn again you can resume with the order tokens. You don't discard a token.

Thanks, I thought once you choose scheme over token you lose token.

Yes, it seems to me that you play the scheme "instead" of revealing an order just like the card says. Nowhere does it mention having to discard orders.

The best use of this card is in a system where you have an Advance order or expect to be attacked by an opponents advance order.
