Boons (Buffs)

BOONs

Boons are special abilities (buffs) tied to the presence of certain Career (Missionary) and the applicable Ship Component; they marry the role of a Career to special actions and events that can occur when needed by the individual Player Character.

All Boons can only affect a number of supplicants* up to the Missionary's Fellowship Bonus. Until the supplicants' next rest - they are able to utilize the Boon's beneficial effect. After which the Boon's effect is spent until the supplicant rests and prays again with the Missionary for the same Boon. The supplicants pray with the Missionary for his Divine inspiration...

Basically Once/24 Hours

When invoking the Boon the Missionary must be within sight of the supplicant - it is in this way that the Missionary's presence in the theater of war is fully realized! (i.e. Inspiration)

*Supplicants: Player Characters or "Reinforcements" aka the Character's personal special Cadre/Cohort (See DH 2)

All Prayers (Boons) herein require 3 Hours of dedication to the God Emperor.
(This is meant to "eat up" character downtime - so they will have to budget their down time as more Boons are introduced)

Summary: What is presented below represent "Pulp" (the opposite being Purist - aka realism) oriented play style - no splitting of hairs, like a card game. If an explaination needs to be made - the "taxing" of each component by "medieval" backwards people could be thought of as a riotous mass of bodies, voices, and spirit...

Repeatable Play: The material present herein isn't meant to be all obtained each and every Campaign but rather - each Campaign you may have can be further enrich as a "different" experience including the tools you use and vie for!

BOONs (Prayers & Rites)

Battle Mass

Ritual battle indoctrination wears heavy with each missed blow & shot within the shrine...

Requirement: Temple Shrine

Benefit: character is to reduce -2 from their next encounter with Sanity gain

Drawback: The hoary trappings that rest within are sacred and must be tested for Upkeep - failure resulting in a Quality degrade and or eventual Component ruin.

Creed Feast

Eat and drink without reserve for this may be your last course...

Requirement: Arboretum + Temple Shrine

Benefit: character is to reduce -2 from their next encounter with Corruption gain

Drawback: The balanced ecosystem that is the Arboretum must be tested for Upkeep - failure resulting in a Quality degrade and or eventual Component ruin.

Glory Rite

Burn and sanctify the fetters and fetishes of most dubious sourcing...

Requirement: Temple Shrine + Trophy Room

Benefit: character is to cancel out the first level of Fatigue gain they may come to encounter.

Drawback: The prizes gleaned from the black gulfs are unique and precious and as such the Trophy Room must be tested for Upkeep - failure resulting in a Quality degrade and or eventual Component ruin.
