Finally finished my Gozanti conversion.

Oh, question for you modelly folks!
My G1A - the canopy isn't attached to the body of the ship so well. There's a small gap between the top and the bottom, at the front. I can see light through from the other side. It's only really noticeable if I hold it up and look closely, but it does bother me. It seems if I just put something in the gap, it wouldn't be noticeable at all. Do you guys have any suggestions for fixing this?
My other thought was I could poke some thread through and give my ship whiskers

Use green stuff or Humbrol/Tamiya modelling filler paste.
For the Green stuff - cut a piece off, mix it with your fingers until it turns dark green then roll a thin sausage and stuff it in that ho... gap... **** that came out wrong.
Alternatively you could try to wiggle the canopy free and file down whatever is causing it to not fit.

I am curious when we'll see the first cloaked G1A

Really nice! I had missed out that one.
So, one old and a couple new repaints.
I've been an Interceptor pilot ever since they came out. Soontir has always been one of my favorite pilots. So, I decided I had to give him his stripes, using the cards as a reference. Then, about a month later, they announce Imperial Aces. Yeah
My stripes are much thicker than the Aces ones, though, and I think they match the cards better.
Next, some more recent work. I flew Palpmobile, Whisper and Omega Leader for our local Regional, and before the tournament I decided that warranted putting some paint on the latter two to go along with the Propaganda Shuttle. Omega Leader was inspired by the TIE/sf (which has the red section on the left. A lot of the cloaked Phantoms I've seen are all cloaked on the front half of the ship. Which to means they're re-cloaking and thus aren't firing. Which is wrong for Whisper. Also, to go along with the bloodstripe theme that's carried through pretty much all of my Imperial repaints, I decided Whisper needed one too, but not on all three fins.
Also decided for Whisper/OL to repaint the gun barrels the proper color for Imperial laser weaponry, and having seen how it looked, decided I had to do the same with all of my Imperial ships.
I've been " greening" all my empire laser tips as well.
But I noticed on the studio models, old toys, and movie stills that the tips are red but the lasers are green.
I like both ways honestly. And will use whichever suits me in the moment.
I too have been painting the lasers green. Usually I stick to what is shown on the movies, but for some reason I went green for these.
I like all of your blood stripe work, and the double stripes for the Tie FO.
I haven't seen blood stripes a Phantom before, great job! I like it a lot...

I actually popped my G1A apart to try to fix this.
It's in three bits, the spoiler and the top of the two engines, the whole length of the top of the ship, and the whole length of the bottom. You can see gaps at the front because unlike the rest, the front doesn't have a little lip round the inside of one of the sections to stop light showing through. Popping it apart and putting a sausage of greenstuff in on the top of the bottom secion in that area when putting it back together worked for me, but I'm not 100% sure it was worth the effort, as my greenstuff is super old and I don't think it worked very well.
Definitely worth popping off the spoiler if you're going to paint it though, it makes getting into those obscured nooks and crannies SO much easier.

Great job on the repaint.
I like the over all yellow and the off shaded panels.
Excellent.
All the best.

Updade on the VCX-100. Highlight cleanup; battle-damage and a name in Aurebesh still pending (interrupted by me sneezing every quarter of a millisecond due to an annoying ******* cold)

Wasn't to sure when I first fought a glimpse of your repaint.
Its very well executed.
Its just the Blue and Brown......those two colours clash.
But.
It is growing on me.
And it is very well done.
All the best.
Barry.
Painted up my scum Z95 Headhunters! Love running all 6 of these guys with Concussion Missiles, guidance chips and 2 of them with Feedback Arrays.

The green and red have a.....Klingon thing going on....with respect to the colour.
Looks great.
Very well done.
Neat and tidy finish and the stripe markings look effective.
Almost look like D Day landing markings
Against that green.
Excellent.
All the best.

spacebug, on 07 Apr 2016 - 05:05 AM, said:Question - do you guys use protective coatings for your models, and if so, what do you use?
Coat of Gloss (or Satin in a pinch) for protection followed by a coat of Testors Dullcoat for a matt finish, then pick out the cockpits/windows in brush on gloss
I second this.
The nice part about doing a glosscoat with a dullcoat over it is two fold.
1. The gloss forms a harder protective layer and is stronger then dullcoat so your actual paint is better protected.
2. When you start to notice areas of the ship getting glossy (other then the areas you mean to be glossy like the cockpit), then the dullcoat has worn off. You just need to give that area a quick spray of dullcoat to reprotect it.
Edited by ironkodiakGah! I posted in the wrong paint thread. Well here it is again.
Banana Pirate, now with yellow!
Kind of subtle, but I thought it would suit the aesthetics better than making the whole thing into a big banana
Subtle and effective!
Two thumbs up!
Here is my Ghostfire variation of the VCX-100 and the Ghostwing squadron:
4LOM. Despite the colours, not a Prince tribute, I just like purple.
Nice! I am still undecided how to repaint my G1A, was wondering about purple too.
Just wondering if anyone's tried these A-Wing paint schemes from Rebels?
Images are from this Galler y on the Rebels Wiki
Edited by spacebugI have seen someone try the third variant
I may try the blue one!
You've already seen these, just trying out my new lightbox (and I posted it in the wrong thread). Shot with my Nexus 6p.
Photo and models look great.
These guys have definitely seen some action.

An early work in progress, Talonbane's ride. I wanted to share my own idea of it before FFG possibly might spoil a Black Sun paint scheme now on force-wednesday.
My friend wanted to have his 666 (+Z for the Pup) painted as a sort of a ghostship. It worked out quite nicely, I tried to use more airbrush that I normally do. So here you have, der Fliegende Trandonshaner:
Edit: Hopefully pics are now visible.
