Awesome colours there, i know blue and orange are opposites on the wheel but they really pop here.

Right time to dig out my Kath Scarlet repaint... when i can find the photobucket uploads... grrr

How was your reenactment event? (Maybe a topic for the Off-Topic subforum; I just thought it sounded fascinating!)

So To try and get my girlfriend into x wing I decided to paint her favourite ship pink.

Despite not liking pink all that much, I've found it a pretty good contrast to grey, so have painted a few more ships.

Did it work? Does she now play? I'd love to get my better half playing x-wing, i wonder how easy it'd be to "Kath Kidston-ise" some ships.....?

I really like the look of your Kath repaint - it's either grungier or more grey than the typical Kath repaints, which look candy apple red on factory white - hardly the look of the fearless Ms. Scarlet!

Cheers, without meaning to offend any other repainters i agree, most people paint it white and red and that looks wrong to me... a bit too clean and a bit too rebel.

I went off the card art and two or three other illustrations where the base colour is clearly a light to mid grey, not white.

The event was brilliant, I usually command the platoon but i took over the recce element for the first bttle, commanding an armoured car rocks... for the second day i was doing more my usual thing and working on the sustained fire gun group, helped load and feed the GPMG to prevent stoppages

Not incredibly realistic, if i was in ferret scout car and saw a BMP2 on the german plains and had no AT support i'd be going so far back they would send my washing forwards!

Freaking bloody awesome!!!

These are my first attempts at detailing/painting anything ever before... The Y-Wings out of the box look terrible, imo, so I wanted to really do something with them... I think anyone that's considering getting into it should definitely just jump right in; the last time I painted anything was in art class in like 7th grade, and that was 15 years ago...

I'm pretty pleased with how these turned out for my first attempts (althought blown up this much really shows a lot of imperfections), but it's crazy how much you learn just doing it a few times and seeing errors or things that could be done better here or there... Definitely a new hobby for me...

Jesus Christ! These are amazing!

Are all those ships based on canonical ships (like the Clone Z95) or some are free creative licences?

And, can you explain how you did them?

The TIE Advanced looked a bit too plain,so I added a white stripe(freehand) to the panels to break them up a bit.

it is really DISAPPOINTING now that FFG have removed the Painting Forum.

I really do miss looking through all of those Fantastic Builds and re-paints.

its a real shame.

Lets hope the see sense and put it back, and until then lets keep something from it Alive.

Hello Odanan,

The Z95's and other ships are built with no conscious thought as to any other ships, well. a slight inspiration to to The Ewing on one of the Z95's.

but its just a Question of cutting them up.....and then seeing what looks good when I start cutting out new plastic card wings, scribing in new detail and then plastic welding everything together.

The YT2400 was something I was thinking about for a while, wanted to make it look very different but still recognizable as a YT.

And here are the Z95's and Ywing....

Im now working on More Ywings, A custom Bwing and another YT2400 as a customer build that looks like mine.

also just started a Scratch built Firespray......as im not a fan of the Original, so I have decided to build my own warped version.

I will keep posting photos of the new builds and re-paints.

and try and keep some form of Painting Section Alive !

There are not nearly enough forward facing cannons on this YT.

Ha Ha.

Well yea....it is over the top !

However the centre section with the four prongs in the nose.......

is actually a Droid Sensor assembly.

the four prongs are sensors and the centre red and green eye piece are the droid sensors and brain.........all for that extra edge in a dogfight !

The skull motif on the cockpit is a nice touch.....but I do love the Colour of it.
