Not sure I agree with that. There seems like a few things in Wave VII that will counter turrets fairly well. A couple Punishers or Advances with AC and Cluster Missiles are going to melt fat turrets.

I think that Dash Rendar with HWK support would be much better than a K-Wing against the Wave VII just because it can be much more efficient on actual destruction by itself. The K-Wing seems much like a HWK mixed with a B-Wing to me. It would need a good turret to be of any use against larger vehicles, considering its low standard damage. It seems like it wouldn't be great on its own, but as a fire-drawing/support tool for other heavy-hitters it would be fantastic.
