Rules: "Legal Path" - Movement through more Systems but still adjacent?

By Holyhong, in Forbidden Stars

Hey there yesterday we were confronted with a "problem"...

Following setup:

The Orc Player wanted to move his ground units from an active system to an adjacent system, unfortunatly he couldnt move directly (from edge to edge) into the system because there were no ships left.

BUT he had a "legal path" through planets and voids connected through two other systems so that he was able to enter the system from the "other" edge.

Long story short: he moved via legal path through three systems in total, but still: the destination system was adjacent to the starting system.

The Rules Reference about moving ground units says:

1. "A legal path is a series of contiguous friendly areas leading to the destination world. There must be a legal path between the starting world and the destination world."

2. "The world a ground unit moves from must be in the active system or one system that is adjacent to the active system . Ground units cannot move into the active system from more than one adjacent system."

Questions:

Can u only move via "legal path" from one active system to ONE adjacent system without passing more systems in between?

Or is it simply possible and you can move your units from an adjacent system to the active system no matter how many systems are involved as long as the destination system is adjacent to the active system?

Thanks for your answers!

Yes, the only legal movement (to my knowledge) is from one system to the active one, without pssing through further systems

Thx for ur answer.

Is there an official confirmation?

ImO the rules are not specified enough.

It's inherent in all the images/examples in the rules. If such a movement had been an option, it'd have been stated clearly in the rules. Thematically this has sense: have you ever seen a general commanding to advance, and the troops side tracking a couple of continents before returning on target?

It's true that it's not openly worded in the rules, but rules cannot cover every rules lawyery. And this point is in any case pretty well covered in the rules: you need adjacency to call your troops, but warp storms block movement. Why such rules would have been created if the intention was allowing to bypass the warp storm by strolling around? If this were a legal move, then why not allowing players to move troops from any one system as long as a legal path is available? They asked for adjacency instead, meaning exactly this. No strolling around, but short paths along which to move the army

Then, if you prefer one official answer, you can use the Rules question button on this very site to ask FFG directly

Ur last post makes a lot sense to me.

Especially the Warp-Storm-Argument!

Also if u compare this situation to the "origin"-Game: Starcraft - The Board Game, u can see, that there u werent able to move through more than one planet tile either.

Thx
