Our group is new to the game and we are trying to decide if the English player should start with Monarchy. It's makes sense fluff wise, but I was wondering what other's think of that. Is it too strong?

If the English started with Monarchy, they would be obnoxiously strong at the start of the game. The English starting board combined with Monarchy would allow them to cripple other players too early in the game. England's early game is pretty strong to begin with.
