@darthlurker : I'd love to get a rematch if you ever come to Paris!Dash Corran was the classic, 58 dash, 42 CorranSadly the final was timed at 75 minutes due to venue constraints (I would have prefered untimed, which would have changed a lot), but I'm not so sure Soontir could have finished the game as he was already down to 1 hull.I did play pretty badly in the mid game though and the last 3 turns were a mad scramble to take down chiraneau before time which left my remaining Ties stressed and badly positionned to finish Soontir. Both Pelayo and I made plenty of mistakes in that final game. This was easily the most intense tournament I've ever won with 9 out of 10 games against Top 16 players. Really a great experience!I faced :-BBBBZ-Dash mangler + 2 blues-4 times Chiraneau Soontir-Brobots (B&C PTL, AdS, Mangler, HLC, Autothrusters)-Fat Han + 3 bandits (luke crew)-Fat Dash + VI Corran-Carnor + double sigma

I only caught the end of the game as I went out to disconnect and have a beer, and didn't realize that Soontir was so close to death. If anyone can catch an arc-dodger in a bump it's you. I started playing x-wing just after wave 4 scared all the swarms away and have never faced 8 TIEs, which was intimidating, and have never seen anyone move so many TIEs the way you did. It was impressive watching you play.

Paris is a bit farther from Barcelona than Toulouse is, but if I can make it I'll be aiming for that rematch =)

Nice to see another swarm winning a national!

Hah,

Take that you fat turret!

I'm glad after 2.5 years the fat turret meta disaster is finally going away.

Except that Italy was won by Dash/Miranda, and Han/Miranda went 5-0 with a huge MoV advantage in the Swiss rounds of the Dutch Nationals. Fat turrets are here to stay, and I'm not sure I would prefer a quad TLT meta.

To digress from the thread a bit, the Fat Turret meta is actually really enjoyable once you choose to embrace it. There are still upgrade choices and in-game strategy that affect how one 2 Ship list beats another 2 Ship list. Then, you still have to know how to beat the tough matches like Rebel and Imp swarms, and the new TLT nemesis. People planning on playing 2 Ship lists and the like really need to know this stuff if they want to have a chance at winning.

TBH, I think there is way more depth to the game than once was with 4 Ship Rebel and Imp Swarms running rampant. The only choice there was "do I bump up to PS 3/4, or drop a tie for PS6? Do I take Garven or Biggs? Or do I throw a hull upgrade on Howlrunner"? Then people would just fly in formation at each other, never leaving one small section of the board. Fat turrets make us use the entire map some games, which I love!

I'm still happy to see the Swarm win some Nationals, though! I always hope there is at least one good swarm player in each big tournament!

I'm glad after 2.5 years the fat turret meta disaster is finally going away.

Do you mean Venus years?

Wave 4, which brought the Phantom and the fat turret meta, came out in February 2014. That was about 570ish days ago.

Venus has an orbital period of 224 days. 2.5 Venus years is... 560 days.

So yeah, you must mean Venus years.

Double Falcons ruled post Wave 2. Double Falcons died down a bit after Wave 3 and the B-wing entered the scene and the TIE Swarm was allowed to get full victories vs other TIE Swarms.

Ah, I was considering the "fat turret meta" to involve the large ship with boost+3PO/Isard archetype (along the lines of MajorJuggler's list obesity metric ).

The falcon and c3po broke the game hard, before wave 4 even released and continue to dominate until it had minor competition in the form of the imperial fat turret in wave 5. All wave 4 brought was a few z95s instead of the rookies that were commonly used. It only took from wave 3.5 to wave 7.5 before ffg was able to bring variety back into the game.

That's a super encouraging Top 8.

thats it i'm moving to Poland !

It's really interesting to see the initiative bids on all those IG-88 lists from Australia. I'm curious what the reasoning is, is it just in case of mirror matches, or something else?

That (though 98 seems to be the standard for that list) and a couple of big meta players are 8s: RAC and Horn, both of who can rip up IG88s if they are moving after them.

I love the variety represented here! That would be awesome to see in person. And NO Bro-bots?!

I'd really love to see the Boba + Bossk list.

Yeah, there was unhinged astromechs on TLT Ywings.

I like this list. 97pts for initiative bid is interesting. id be tempted to go with two dampeners over the Feedback Array but thats just my preferences.
