So I am kind of a noob when it comes to EU,(though I guess it does not matter anymore) I have watched the movies and played some of the games, I have seen this chart (below) is there more then this? The Raider makes me wonder if we will see lots of new ship created for this game past what we know. Also will we see something like the transport in Armada where its not so much combat focus as its a "utility ship."

Wave 4 seems like a good time to drop the Executor as the most hype in X-wing was around wave 4. So What say you guys about wave 3? Will we see something crazy Huge or more of something the size of the VSD?

My opinion is that if we get an Executor, it will be Armada huge, and be released outside a wave like the Huge CR-90 was in X-Wing.

What will we get? Hard to say. Will FFG continue the current trend of Imperial Wedges vs. Rebel Cucumbers, or will we start seeing some diversification? I would say that there are a great many fan favorite designs that don't fit those categories.

An interdictor I think is pretty likely for wave 3. Beyond that, I don't know.

What about the Nebulon B2 or the dreadnaught class cruiser? Or the Mk1 Assault frigate?

Just seeing that picture I knew it was going to be Tarkin'd. Of course I look at that tiny ship in the top left hand corner and realize that is the ISD. There be a lot of Very Big Ships out there.

Though the rebels could get an A-wing upgrade card that says on the turn you lose this ship if it is within range of the Executor at a time when the front shields are down, deal lethal damage. :-0

I think that FFG going to Lucas Arts to create the Raider is a great sign that we could see many new rebel ships or SD's that have been taken over by rebels after Ep6. (example Rumor FYI http://screencrush.com/star-wars-episode-7-details-han-solo/ ) Becuase Ep 7 has such promise of new and exciting stuff.

I think something like this, I do think that we will get it but call it a huge base, or XL whatever. It will be I think (and have nothing to base it on) that we will see it like we did the CR-90 in X-wing as well.

I don't remember if ffg said they wouldn't touch prequel stuff when it came to Armada. ..with that said they got bunches of ships to draw from that era. I'd like to do a large Republic vs CIS battle.

There's no reason why Rebs can't have some modified Prequel ships. One of them even appears on the X-Wing 'Predator' card art!

I read that Interdictors are "Likely" and "Certain", but can anyone explain what Interdictors are supposed to do?

Yes, we do have some really good creative solutions in the customs thread using titles, but even this doesn't really feel like an Interdictor. It feels like a medium cruiser with really specific title cards. The chief problem is that the Immobilizer has no canonical function beyond stopping ships in Hyperspace... which is not represented by the game!

Unless FFG comes up with a new mechanic of some sort (and probably a new ship card type) I don't think Interdictors of any kind are going to make an impact in the game. This includes the Interdictor Star Destroyer, the CC-7700, mass pulse mines and so on. To be otherwise means FFG has to bring a new interpretation to what Interdictors can do, just like Empire at War had to do when they tackled the same issue.

I feel that Super Star Destroyers are a good possibility for the future. FFG must have certainly considered them by now, much how I imagine they considered CR-90s not too long after getting started with X-Wing. Difference is, the Armada engine is designed to incorporate these kinds of drastic scale changes between ships, so I can envision a Super Star Destroyer less than two feet long. That's all I'll say about it here.

Anything else is, well, kind of up in the air. Will new releases focus on introducing new mechanics, or simply new ships to fill holes in each side? The Empire is heavy with big ships, the Rebels mostly have lighter craft. Do we bring in Lancers and DP20s to kill all fighters while introducing a new advanced fighter wave? Are pure support ships going to be a thing? What about space stations?

Until one figures out if a new wave introduces a drastic new mechanic or not, the sky is pretty much the limit on where Armada could go. The fact that it is going up is a good thing... imagine if Armada had been too expensive for people to buy and the game tanked? Then we wouldn't be having this discussion, and that's a very sad thought.

What about a Lancer ( something like 3 Anti-squadron dice), some captured ships would be cool too.

I also don't think FFG will have to resort to making new ships soon. The Raider they did probably to cross-promote with X-Wing, and to fill that gap for an Imperial light ship when they had the chance (as the Empire has no easy corvette analogue beyond copying the CR90 with the Assasin).

If you consider sources like the old Rebellion strategy game there are plenty of ships in it that could be brought to Armada. Off the top of my head the Rebels could get the Liberator cruiser (perhaps goofy design, but surely no less ridiculous than XW's Wave 7 TIE Punisher), or the Dauntless class Heavy Cruiser (different enough in design from a MonCal that opens up opportunities for another attack profile... like a powerful forward attack?). Still other one-offs and misfits can come from many of the old sources, like Pursuit class from the Marvel comics. There's more than thirty years' worth of material and ships they can depict before going to new sources, and long before that point, Episode 7 and its spinoffs will give us more craft.

I can not speak for all, but I do not want it true scale it would be six to nine feet from what I have seen, I want it in a playable scale. I am thinking about twice maybe two and a half time the size of the the ISD.

Even that would be stretching the practicality of what they could manufacture. It is looking like the ISD is going to be around 8" long, a 16"-20" SSD would probably have to retail for more than $200, and honestly would be very playable (but incredibly cool). I'm expecting it to be closer to x-wings cr-90 size, 12" or a bit bigger (which will still be very cool).

Fleet Carriers could make an appearance, like the (ever-popular) Gozanti or the Quasar Fire-class Bulk Cruiser (Flurry).

I am hoping they find a unique way to tackle the Immobilizer 418 and the Vindicator.

The Lancer-class Frigate is pretty cool, but I'd be surprised if we see it. The Raider fills the anti-fighter roll for the empire. I suspect it was created specifically to replace the Lancer because I guess someone important didn't like?

I think that if not by wave 3 then for wave 4 they'd likely start digging into ships from the new movie. From the trailers alone we've seen what could be a new tie fighter squad, a new x-wing squad, and a new type of star destroyer.

One could say the new movies will count as an era of their own (which would mean not fitting into the galactic civil war focus of this game) but I'd be a bit surprised if that were the case. It's certainly doesn't look to be so removed from the galactic civil war that it would be separated like the Republic era.

Also, I don't mind more EU ships, but I think more than a full wave or two worth of them would be pushing the limit before the designs get too wacky or ships are just plain too big to not be comically sized down for the game. (that includes cannon stuff like the Executor too, as cool as it is) As much as I'd love more and more Armada ships I'd still prefer if they found a way to keep making new things without truly diving into the depths of the EU and dragging out too many of the uglier and little known ships.

I got super nostalgic for BFG this morning while browsing Shapeways - found an Endeavor class light cruiser, which was a model I always coveted, but Citadel's molds warped the aquila prow and their version never got released.

It's expensive but I might have to pick a couple up. Someone talk me out of it!
