2015 Seasonal/Other Tournament Results

By stmack, in X-Wing

Hi guys,

I know there's a lot of tournaments going on outside of the Regionals so thought it'd be nice to have a place to compile and discuss the results of them. Particularly those that haven't been added to List Juggler.

Please post any results you have for any size tournament and include as much detail as you can, preferably in the following template:

[Any other info you'd like to add, such as round length, size of final cut if any, etc]

Cheers,

ps- I'll be honest, I'm hoping to get more content to add to my site, X-wing Squad Ranker

It was a great event - IGs and Firesprays were very common in the upper reaches, but lots of other ships as well. Not sure about the other lists from the top eight I'm afraid.
Lists are done for memory, but I'm pretty confident about most of them :)

Thanks for all the reports so far guys, keep em coming!

Between this post and one on reddit I've gotten over a dozen previously unreported tournaments.

Any one have any results to report from this weekend? Cheers :)

Spring tournament in Bozeman, MT. Overall winner was the B-wings:

Keyan w/ advanced sensors, C-3PO, and Stay on Target.

2x Blue squad w/ FCS and heavy lasers.

Second was double aggressors, B&D, heavy lasers, stay on Target, FCS, title, autothrusters and inertial dampeners.

Third was Yorr w/fleet officer, generic shuttle w/ fleet officer, and 4x academy pilots.

Fourth was double aggressor, B&C, veteran instincts, FCS, heavy lasers, title, autothrusters, inertial dampeners, and a single seismic charge.

Nine people total, four rounds.

Entered, thanks!

Looks like it was the same final as the week before in Billings but with a different outcome, always good to see games going both ways :)

Yep, the double aggressors that won in Billings lost to the Keyan list early in the day this time. Bs with HLC are a really strong matchup for aggressors, and both those people are good at their lists.

Another spring weekend past (was a long weekend up here in Canada), any Spring Kits or other tournaments any one wants to report?

Cheers!

Spring Kit Tournament

Fun 4 All Games, 16-May

Ypsilanti, MI, U.S.

Attendance: 7 Players

1st: 3-0

Whisper + VI + ACD + FCS

Soontir + PTL + AT

Sigma + Stygium + Intel Agent + Enhanced Scopes

100 pts

2nd: 2-1 (lost to 1st)

Soontir + PTL + AT + Stealth Device

Rear Admiral Chir + VI + Gunner + Moff Jerjerrod + Ysanne + Engine + Seismic Charge

99pts?

3rd: 2-1 (lost to A Wings I think)

I actually have no idea what he brought! Haha. Something with Keyan and a other B Wings I think.

Other notable lists:

Tycho + PTL + Daredevil + Proton Rocket + Experimental Interface + Title

Jake + VI + PTL + Proton Rocket + Title + Autothrusters

Arvel + Intimidation + Proton Rocket + Title

Dash + PTL + HLC + Kyle Katarn + Engine + Title

Ten Numb + Lone Wolf + C3PO + BWing/E2 + Mangler

Vessery + HLC + Adrenaline Rush

Bounty Hunter + HLC

Black Squadron Tie + Squad Leader

IG88B + Upgrades

Starviper of some sort

Z95 of some sort

Sorry I'm hazy on some of the lists!

There were some neat moments in a lot of the matches, including Arvel blocking a Decimator, eating 5 damage from Arvel's Procket, and Jake doing 5 more damage from his Procket. And somehow the Decimator and Fel pulled off the win in that match.

Myself, I was particularly proud of using Whisper to block Jake (thanks Intel agent), though Tycho was one boost away from undoing my plans!

I played in a small spring kit tournament two weekends ago. I don't know all of the lists, but I took third with two tie defenders and a tie fighter.

Hey stmack

Been trying to message ya and it says your inbox full

Sorry only other way get a hold of ya lol

Spring Kit Tournament

Good Games, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia

8 players

I didn't take note of all the lists, unfortunately. I took first, fighting Jordan's 4BZ in round 1, Tom's EBBZ in round 2, and Damien's Dash-BB in round 3, all without losing a ship. Unfortunately, being forced to fly out of my skin for three consecutive games left my brain rather fried and thus I screwed up the final game against Ben Keens in legendary fashion and got thrashed 100-0.

1st: Ben Doyle

IG-88B (Predator, Mangler Cannon, Advanced Sensors, Feedback Array, Autothrusters, IG-2000)

IG-88D (Adrenaline Rush, Heavy Laser Cannon, Fire-Control System, Feedback Array, Autothrusters, IG-2000)

2nd: Ben Keens

Ten Nunb (Fire-Control System, B-wing/E2, Jan Ors)

Kyle Katarn (Ion Cannon Turret, Recon Spec, Moldy Crow)

Biggs Darklighter (Stealth Device, R2-D2)

3rd: Thomas Dobson

Corran Horn (Veteran Insincts, Fire-Control System, Flechette Torpedo, R2-D2)

Blue Squadron Pilot x2

Bandit Squadron Pilot

4th: Jordan McDuff

Blue Squadron Pilot x4

Bandit Squadron Pilot

5th: Simon Lam

6th: Damien Hutchins

Dash Rendar (Lone Wolf, Recon Specialist, Mangler Cannon, Outrider)

Blue Squadron Pilot (Fire-Control System) x2

7th: Samuel Blight

Dash Rendar (Push the Limit, Nien Nunb, Engine Upgrade, Mangler Cannon, Outrider)

Corran Horn (Veteran Instincts, Engine Upgrade, Fire-Control System, R2-D2)

8th: Ryan Hendrie

Nice win, haven't seen Kyle show up in a list in the top 2 in a while, that's cool.

Weekly Monday morning call for results :)

(ps getting caught up on some results I was missing that are on list juggler as well this week, IG is getting real close to overtaking the B-wing as the top ship)

Spring Kit Tournament

Dungeon Games 05/31/2015

Estero, FL, USA

Attenance: 4

We’re a relatively new group that formed to play X-Wing. We figured hosting a tournament would get more players over to the LGS to play and we highly encouraged newcomers to participate. Throughout the months leading up to the tournament we taught some interested people how to play X-Wing and offered use of our ships, etc so they may participate in the tournament. Additional people had signed up on the Facebook event for the tournament but did not show up. ¾ of us are regular players at that location. I TO’d with doctorzephyr as a secondary, though we didn’t have any rules questions or disputes.

We ran 2 rounds of Swiss pairings and ended it there, splitting the tournament kit as evenly as possible between the four of us.

1 st (doctorzephyr on the forums):

Score: 10 MoV: 355 SoS: 5 Record: 2/0/0

99pts

Dash Rendar + Predator + Heavy Laser Cannon + Recon Specialist + Outrider

3x Prototype Pilot + Chardaan Refit

2 nd (myself):

98pts

Howlrunner + Swarm Tactics

6x Obsidian Squadron Pilot

3 rd (JFunk on the forums):

Score: 5 MoV: 165 SoS: 15 Record: 1/1/0

100pts

Soontir Fel + Push the Limit + Autothrusters + Hull Upgrade + Royal Guard TIE

Rear Admiral Chiraneau + Predator + Gunner + Ysanne Isard + Rebel Captive + Engine Upgrade

4 th (our newcomer):

Score: 0 MoV: 13 SoS: 15 Record: 0/2/0

99pts

Omicron Group Pilot + Darth Vader + Fleet Officer

2x Royal Guard Pilot + Push the Limit + Autothrusters + Hull Upgrade + Royal Guard TIE

Academy Pilot

Round 1:

JFunk and I were paired with one another. Normally I fly Rebel or Scum but had previously decided to try out a Howlrunner swarm, especially against the large ship meta. Obstacles were setup in the middle of the battlefield, with my opponent starting in the middle and spending the first few rounds flying around them. I had setup on the left side of the board and flew my ships straight up the left side of the battlefield. Once I had gotten around halfway through, I K-Turned the squad and starting coming back towards Chiraneau. I had made a mistake with Howlrunner and K-Turned at the wrong time, resulting in Howlrunner being the closest to Chiraneau. About 2 rounds later, Howlrunner was the first ship to go. The rest of my squad made up for it by killing Chiraneu in 3 rounds but not without another casualty and some damage. Soontir had been doing his best to arc dodge and turtle up but suffered enough attacks to take a crit. The crit happened to be Damaged Cockpit, which dropped Soontir down to a Pilot Skill of 0. A few more rounds of maneuvering and TIEs dying and I was able to get 1 more damage on Soontir. Eventually time was called with Soontir and 1 Obsidian left on the board. Once he was able to get in some Range 1 shots on my TIEs, I didn’t have enough firepower or arcs to take Soontir down. It was a pretty close game, which surprised the both of us. 0/1/0 MoV: 80

In the other match that round, doctorzephyr swept our newcomer, 200/0. I was not able to pay attention to this game enough to give any highlights even thought it was going on right next to me, due to extreme tunnel vision and focusing on my own game.

Round 2:

I was now paired with our newcomer. I setup similar to last game, in the left corner of the battlefield. My opponent setup a little more spread out across his edge of the battlefield. I flew a little more conservatively along the left edge of the battlefield. By a couple rounds in, I was facing a Royal Guard with my entire squad. I was able to take it down with 0 damage taken. Next round I 1 right turned into the Lambda that had flown towards the center of the battlefield and started attacking it with my TIEs. I was able to bring it down to 1 Hull left in that round. Next round my opponent surprised me with the 0 maneuver on his Lambda, making my entire squad crash into each other. Hilariously effective at making me lose my actions. Sadly, the Lambda only needed 1 more damage before it was destroyed. I believe in this round my opponent’s Academy TIE took out one of my Obsidians with a nice Range 1 shot from behind. The next round I K-Turned a couple TIEs and one ended up crashing into the other, while the rest turned towards my opponent’s Academy Pilot. I took it down with focus fire and before we started the next round my opponent had decided to concede. I ended with 1/1/0, MoV: 267

In the match between doctorzephyr and JFunk, from what I saw, the A-Wings helped block Soontir which allowed Dash the kill shot on him. Chiraneu took out all the A-Wings but by the end of it Dash was able to deliver the final shot onto Chiraneu.

Overall it was a very fun and friendly tournament. I believe we all enjoyed ourselves and we got some cool swag. Thanks go out to Dungeon Games for ordering the Spring Kit for the tournament and doing their best to promote the tournament. They even kept the entry to the tournament free of charge. I’m looking forwards to the Summer Kit Tournament and hoping we can increase the amount of players that attend.

Crap, I've slowly let myself get a month behind on results in X-wing :( **** summer time... Promise to get caught up this week while my better half is out of town.
