I will now think of this every time I watch ROTJ. Ewok status elevated to God-tier, WTB Lieutenant Kettch expansion.
There was an interesting little article that went along similar (though not as drastic) lines of thinking: Ewoks are not teddybears and can be brutally tribal. I liked to take that stormtrooper testimony at face value, since it makes Ewoks actually dangerous.
It'll be interesting to see the fuzzy butcher's response when they reach Tattooine and face the God-Machine the Jawas are building.
This topic brings back fond memories of an RPG campaign where I played an Ewok whose first stop after leaving home was Tatooine. Much hilarity ensued like the time someone was giving a "Take our world back from the Hutts," speech. My Ewok noticed a sniper aiming at the guy and rushed him trying to knock him out of the way.

In the 2001 edition of the SW "Galactic Travel guide and phrase book" they translated all the alien dialouge, including the pre-special edition RotJ victory song.
Yub nub means freedom. Strangely when wicket eats the food Liea offers him he says "Goon-da" which means free. I guess there is such a thing as a free lunch.

Also in a book detailing the sounds of Star wars, they wanted a language that was gender neutral when spoken, you wouldn't know if it was spoken by a male or female. They found this old lady that they could only get talking in her native language if they gave her Vodka. The recording sessions became known as "talking to grandma vodka". and the Ewoks were never the same again, since now when ever I hear or see an ewok all i remember is a little old lady drinking vodka
