State of the Game?

By Sol Badguy, in UFS General Discussion

yea i agree with antigoth I just started this year and when I was trying to figure out what to build with I had to choose from atleast 9 sets it was really confusing to find out what to choose from. I think even though we did lose street fighter and SNK for now we have three good sets that arent that big so I think a new player wont be as confused as I was from trying to start out with.

[All of the following is my own personal opinion]

Honestly - I'd prefer the one release in November. Sure it would mean "Only" 3 releases in the year. (4 if you're like us, and didn't get Set 11 until January)

Something that I've been seeing far too much over the last year is that people tend to aquire very little of the sets. I'm hoping with the slower releases, and that there is only "one" set out right now, that people will be more inclined to collect more of that set, or actually collect the entire set, rather then just pick up 10 or 20 cards from the set. <I miss Raw Deal where players tended to collect most of the cards from the sets, as opposed to a small handful.>

At which point, because people have these cards, and there is "so many idea" as others have said - people explore the game more.

With people exploring the game more, the meta, and the game itself grows.

That's my dream, and I'm sticking to it.

Generally, I try to make at least one playset of every common/uncommon. Two boxes is all I need - with two releases per set, I couldn't even do that. With one, I can, and then some.

Which reminds me I need to go update my trade list.

Please folks we all know that FFG will miss the deadline again and push the set back

SCIV Set II is already printed and sitting in FFG's wearhouse. If I recall correctly - James was using SCIV Set II cards in his decks at Gencon.

Hey, if you can print them in advance, that's always good.

It isn't necessarily in advance; it was SUPPOSED to be released alongside Tekken. Whatever Set 15 is, it certainly is not printed yet.

You forget one thing. We don't know how far back the decision was made for 1 release. If it pre-dates printing date, I'll allow it.

The decision was made prior to the two sets going to print.

I'm hoping Set 15 goes to print soon, nonetheless.

I thought they said that the SCIV was already at their warehouse and set for an October release?

That's Set 14 - and more likely a November release so there's 3 months in between.

Ah, I lost count of numbers. They haven't spoiled what the set after SCIV is (no point if SCIV itself is so far away).

Why? Steve said October. We had to wait for more than an extra month for Tekken due to pushbacks(as usual). If we once again get ANOTHER push back I will be pissed.

I don't recall the date being formally announced.

I believe the announcement was made at Gencon...Don't remember its been a while since I saw that video. Anyways this is taken for the august state of the game:

Also we just printed 13 new promo characters with the latest round of promos, only one of which (Astrid, who will most likely only be used to stack with the current one) is brand new. this gives us a total of 21 characters for the format Sept 1st (8 each from the base sets, 5 more from Tekken) The 12 new promo characters mentioned above that we will release as a priority, and 5 more SC4 characters coming in October which brings the total to 33 very quickly.

Coming in October could very well mean pre-release in October, set release in November. No date specified means nothing.

Or could be an additional 5 Promotional Soul Calibur Characters rotating into Prize support.

Now pay close attention to the part where Steve says and i quote "Soul Calibur is already in the warehouse so it will absolutely ship in October."

Thanks for trying to make me look like I know nothing though... Makes me want to post even less than I already do.

calm down. You may have not noticed, but some f us has gotten quite sick of the whole "steeve said" especially if you mix in Gencon; where not all of us did go. Thanks for the link and the actual proof of the said thing.

I didn't go either. I just watched the video when it was posted by aslum(I think it was him) and read the august state of the game. You did not have to go to Gencon to be informed.

Or there's those of us, who have playgroups who are actively saying "we really like the current meta, and would like a chance to play it a bunch before another set comes out." and are really concerned that SCIV II will drop too soon, and abort the current meta.

Additionally in almost every thread there are players complaining about how limited their card collections are, and how hard a time they have keeping up.

Just as an additional note - Shipping out of the wearhouse also means shipping to distributors so it has time to each the stores for the specified release dates. (which, have not been announced)

Really? How can anyone have a hard time keeping up with only 1 99 card set coming out every 3 months. The secondary market for this game is so cheap and the sets are so small. I am not working and come from a very poor family and I have playsets of every Tekken C/UC already and near playsets of every rare.

Secondly this technically isn't ANOTHER set dropping this is a set that was originally supposed to come out alongside Tekken but didn't because FFG decided to do singles sets for whatever stupid reason. Even with only one set they STILL had so many delays and now you are saying you hope there are even more? I am tired of delays and I want to get Soul calibur out of the way ASAP so that this game can(hopefully) because UFS again instead of NFS(Namco Fighting System)

Unfortunately, if you were to ask any question about when we'll get a non-Namco release, I'm fairly certain he will say "I cannot answer that question". Although they've already stated they want to take a break from Street Fighter since it has saturated our game for a long time, something tells me maybe it's up to the companies, maybe they have to renew or buy new licenses, and/or maybe the companies have dropped out.

No matter what the case, I'm sure Steve cannot tell us.
