I dont know if it was released, but in spanish there is a picture with it:
Gandalf gains centinel and ranged.
Exhausting Shadowfax, you can ready Gandalf.
Nothing bad.

Prolly not worth it for solo. Not sure how worth it for multiplayer, 3 is not that much to go around.
Cool, thanks for sharing! I saw that this was posted in the news section of the Spanish website. Not sure why though. In the comments, someone asked for an estimated release date and a moderator replied that it is still "Q2".
The subtitle of the news mentions "march with the ents", so maybe this will also trigger some excitement here. ![]()
Shadowfax could be of some use even in solo I believe, even though one of its abilities would be useless , the ready thing could be very usefull for using Gandalf multiple times per turn
Three resources isn't that big of a deal in a heavy resource generation Gandalf deck. And it's neutral, so you can play it from hand, which can be very important.
I'd include it.
Also can you please spoil Orthanc?
Edited by Veve73 neutral vs 2 spirit for the same effect. Giving Gandalf Sentinel and Ranged may be wasted in 1-player, but having Gandalf have both of those and an extra action in multiplayer with his insane numbers is just awesome. Also, fetchable with Westfold Horse-breeder. I think it has enough benefits over Unexpected Courage to prefer it in multiplayer.
Thematically it's works well too. We've already got mounts associated with readying, which doesn't make the most sense, but adding sentinel and ranged makes a lot of sense because it allows him to get to places where he is needed to help defend or attack.
So we have a Dunedain Cache, a Dunedain Warning and an unexpected Courage packaged up for 3 (neutral) resources. Hmmm... I agree that it may not be playable solo. Mostly a flavor card methinks. Will it sit in the binder like the birdbath?
What a letdown.
With how good some of the mounts in this game are, I was certainly expecting more from Shadowfax...

Yeah, I hear ya. I expected a huge text box describing something awesome. Well, sometimes simple but useful is better than complicated but hard to place.

The text on Orthanc says:
Immune to player card effects.
While Orthanc is in the staging area, it gains: "Forced: After the players quest successfully, the first player looks at the top 3 cards of the encounter deck, reveals one and discards the rest."
Also, that is some sweet new art of Gandalf the White! Maybe a boon or event, or quest card?
Edited by GizlivadiI think this is way too powerful on a hero that is already broken and far better than any other hero in the game. Normally it costs 1 to 2 resources just to give a character ranged or sentinel. Unexpected Courage costs two spirit. You get ranged, sentinel AND the effect of unexpected courage for 3 cost and its neutral....... and it isn't good enough for some of you?
Crazy overpowered for an already overpowered character.
Can someone please translate the quest stage text as well?
Edited by PsychoRockaIt will really depend on the deck you use Gandalf in. If you pair him with leadership or tactics heroes, it will certainly be very powerful since you'll be able to quest with him and then ready, but if you're running spirit you have Unexpected Courage which is cheaper, though not neutral. I would add a copy even if playing with spirit, just because it's another readying option.
The quest stage says: "X is the pursue value. Ugluk cannot leave the staging area or take damage. Forced: At the end of the combat phase, increase the pursue value by 1 for each enemy in the staging area."
...the land of shadow
I agree with PsychoRocka on Shadowfax: sure, it's an expensive card but being neutral means you'll always be able to play it in one go; furthermore all of the abilities are great and they're all packaged in one card (albeit unique). Maybe for solo it's not top notch - I am huge fan of Unexpectd Courage, so for me it's still very good - but for multiplayer it's awesome.

I just prefer playing solo, at which point Shadowfax is suddenly a more expensive UC. My expectations were pretty high with Asfaloth and Firefoot being as good as they are. It's not that Shadowfax is awful, just that I've had a long time to imagine he would be something very unique.
Yea, for solo, Shadowfax is an expensive, unique, neutral version of Unexpected Courage. You can do very little with Ranged/Sentinel in solo, other than things like Hands Upon the Bow. Even in multiplayer, how often have people played with the Dunedain cards or Rivendell Bow to add Ranged or Sentinel to characters? Generally, if we want Ranged/Sentinel, we want it immediately, so we don't rely on an attachment to grant it. So, most of the time, the Ranged/Sentinel are going to feel very secondary.
We use the Dunedain Ranged/Sentinel cards from time to time, especially in decks when a hero becomes awesome over time due to attachments. For instance, it's great to have a juiced up Eomer with a Rohan Warhorse on him, but if he only has one enemy engaged it's sad to see his extra attack go to waste. Ranged isn't really needed right away, but it sure is nice to have later in the game.
I've also thrown Sentinel on Frodo a few times to tank the boss when the other player has superior attack power.
Plus, you can fetch Shadowfax with a Horse Breeder, so you should be able to get it out early pretty reliably. Simple, but I like him. Makes me want to build a deck that uses OHaUH Gandalf ally with all of his attachments.

I play two handed and getting sentinel set up via Arwen or Elven mail is CRUCIAL to my decks. I also used to use Rivendell Bow to great effect and have only removed it recently as it became obsolete due to other changes.
Although it would have been cool to see something truly unique, this attachment will work well. Even in solo play and with access to Unexpected Courage, I'm fine with it. Neutral means it's always a viable first turn play, and getting Gandalf action advantage early is definitely worth it.
Shadowfax.... well, if you sacrificed Gandalf to get rid of the Balrog in The Road Darkens, it seems even more likely that you'll get a way to get him back. I wonder if they will reward you in some way for that sacrifice, and for not doing any Fortune or Fate shenanigans? Like.. remove some burdens if you are able to resurrect a hero.

Yeah, I do hear you. 2+ players Shadowfax is easily worth the value, as Gandalf is the hero you most want ready and able to use his excellent stats. I'm sure Shadowfax will find his way into some of my decks. ![]()
It is also the unique way to have an permanent readying effect on a ally for Gandalf II (from the Hobbit) whose stats are better than the Gandalf Hero.
In the apropriate deck, it is a truly amazing !
