Final combat and devoured investigators question

By zeb, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Hi,

The number of successes in the Final combat determines the number of doom tokens to remove from the AO track. If an investigator is devoured during this final combat, does this number of successes vary too ?

Let's say I play 3 investigators, thus for 3 successes I remove a doom token. If one investigator is devoured, will I remove one token for each 2 successes ? Or do I need to use the initial number of three ?

Thanks in advance.

No. Count the number of investigators that were in the game (fixed number). If for example you have 4 investigators and one goes LiTaS against Yig and that wakes up Yig, causing that investigator to be devoured, still need 40 hits to finish off Yig. I know some people play a cumulative number, meaning all investigators devoured during the game still count, so if you have 4 investigators and 2 get devoured and replaced, you'd need 60 hits against Yig for example.

Right. The idea is that final combat becomes more difficult as investigators are killed. Which makes sense. But I understand the confusion.

Thanks a lot for your answers.
